When Johnson declared the parliamentary privileges committee a kangaroo court, a witch hunt and biased it only took a few seconds before his fan club we're repeating it on phone ins,

It'll be exactly the same with this ...

... it's started already with claims that people aren't sympathetic because they're wealthy.

Yes, as I have said twice now, it is a perception that some people were saying that they deserved to die because they were rich.

What I am saying is that Johnson is buying into that perception, rather than calling the people who have described the Titan sub as being sub-standard 'lefties'.

Ms Sarkar wrote on Twitter: "What has happened is a tragedy, and I feel immense pity for the families. It’s also a tragedy born of hubris - and it’s not dehumanising to say that the attitude of OceanGate and their ‘move fast and break things’ disdain for safety regulations got these people killed."

That's exactly what you just said <laugh>

"Stockton Rush bought budget parts to save money and experimented with stuff that put peoples lives in danger."

"If the super-rich can spend £250,000 on vanity jaunts 2.4 miles beneath the ocean then they're not being taxed enough."

In a further tweet, she added: "We get well-funded public services, they get saved from the consequences of their own hubris. What's not to like?"

Conveniently leave that bit out eh? :emoticon-0107-sweat

First thing she says when 5 people are likely dead or close to death is that they should be taxed more. Very good. Bore off man.

She's an idiot who should stick to the point ...

... which doesn't mean you and Johnson aren't idiots who can't stick to the point.

You've just repeated exactly what she said but Conveniently leave that bit out eh? :emoticon-0107-sweat

He is a bellend. As far as I'm aware no one of any note has actually said publicly that they deserved to die because they were rich.

But Ash Sarkar isn't much better. While she didn't at any point say that they deserved die, comments such as
If the super-rich can spend £250,000 on vanity jaunts 2.4 miles beneath the ocean then they're not being taxed enough. We get well-funded public services, they get saved from the consequences of their own hubris. What's not to like?
are hugely distasteful during what was being portrayed as an ongoing rescue mission and could easily be interpreted as a lack of empathy for people in danger on the basis of their financial status.

He's deliberately buying into that perception. He's using the death of these people to further his own agenda, whilst having the temerity to criticise some faceless "lefties" for doing the same.

Ah right, so basically you can go on like a **** and say four people pretty much deserved to die as long as you mention that the one who misled them cut corners?

Many folk have stated the Titan wasn’t safe. They also haven’t came out and said those on board should be taxed more whilst they’re likely dead.

Get yourself back on Reddit, I’m sure your opinion will sit well with the woke left wing basement dwellers over there :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Worse I'd say, except that very few people pay any attention to what she says.

Johnson is doing exactly what she's doing and it's totally inappropriate.

Undoubtedly. But Ash Sarkar did similar with the tweet quoted above. No matter who is involved, people shouldn't be making political capital from a tragedy.

I've no clue who Ash Sarkar is, I'm sure that's ignorance on my part.

I agree wholeheartedly with your post though.

She's high up in Novara Media, describes herself as a communist, does some activism stuff.

Quite influential in certain circles but like Smug says, not that well known outside of them.

Some of the stuff she says is spot on. Unfortunately, she takes it too far it to be palatable for me.

Just Googled her and she's just another shock-jock who isn't involved in politics.

First time I'd noticed her and won't look again.

People seem to be using her drivel to make political points instead of concentrating on the tragedy ...

... Ironically exactly what they're accusing her of.

I believe she was thrust into the public eye when she posted a report about the population of white people in London declining and said “yesss we’re winning” or something along those lines.

So not exactly the equivalent of the former PM then? She's another nobody saying controversial things for publicity. Not a typical "lefty" in any way, but of course those with an agenda use such comments and promote her nonsense to demonise all "lefties".

Yeah, that's a pretty good description of her. Just a journo really, columnist for the Guardian, and writes for Novara.

Novara is a (very) left-wing media group with a sizeable but not mainstream following.

I thought she was a Labour MP by the way people were using her drivel.

She reminds me of that loudmouth controversialist who was always on TV, Katie summat iirc.
