Yeah, I never really got the abuse directed at him but he certainly showed that he felt unloved. He was an honest player and a grafter - probably why GA likes him - but there was, shall we say, less flair about him. Whilst I can understand why Smyth is worth a punt, based on his form at LOFC, I think a Scowen return would probably be a mistake for all concerned.
Apparently, the club were under the impression that Colin wound'nt be able to attract the right sort of player. And then Mr Hughes came in and we all know what happened then.
if Smyth is coming back perhaps the Professor (the little and large Smith show) is also on the cards? Seemed an honest and hard working pro who was never given much of a chance whenever there was a sexy new loan signing available. At least we are no longer in the market for ex Real Madrid would be galacticos that nobody has ever heard of but some fans talked up as though they were the real deal. Like that guy with the middle name. What was it? How can I forget. Esteban ****ing Granero. When he was deciding who to pass to within 5 yards a tanker carrying 100,000 tonnes of crude could turn and think faster than him.
West London reporting keen interest in Smyth. OK, it’s not a bad free signing. Also saying GA likes Scowen - now here we do need a DoF to look at this. 30 now. Been around and I’d rather we were looking for a better prospect. Has been chatter elsewhere of a Wigan defender, Jack Whatmough -26, as a replacement for Dickie. Seems to have done a reasonable job at Wigan - warrior and silent leader type apparently. On a free due to not being paid by Wigan. So fits our budget I guess.
New Signing Alert!!! https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/ainsworth-adds-to-backroom-team-220623/ FFS - how many goals is he going to score???
To be see it from a different angle, we have had quite a few references to our fitness levels being below par over the seasons. If GA sees it too, all credit to him making the changes necessary. He’s made comments around our injuries too, so maybe this is part of addressing that too. We’ve been saying we need changes in our set-up. Bring it on I say.
Didn't Beale make similar comments and if anything things got worse, certainly didn't improve. Hopefully this new chap will be the one to sort it out.
I never understood why Smythe was let go. Maybe ambition was set higher then but seems a good fit for us now.
I read somewhere that Smythe had chronic asthma which made training and also playing a little unpredictable ... He was therefore deemed not really physically able to be a Championship ( or greater) player. Anyone else heard this? Things may have changed for him...or it maybe just wrong
Wanted - We need a striker who knows the difference between a child’s climbing net & this. Open to all. Age, race, religion & blood type no barrier. Apply now…… ask for GA.
Not heard that but looked up stats and 10 goals in 38 appearances at L2. Let's not set expectations too high.
