    No - it's not a prediction!
It's fair to say that relegation is never nice or easy to take...... but - I am wondering if it did Gills a favour when we dropped into L2 a couple of seasons back ?

I don't expect anyone to agree with me - especially as we went into freefall - and looked like we were going bust....and it's not as if we had a Chairman who was doing ANYTHING to try to save the Club -- which, if Scally had remained in charge, would NOW not exist !

If Gills hadn't been relegated -- perhaps scraping L1 safety (( which - quite frankly should have been achieved - with abysmal results in the last few games to snatch relegation from the jaws of 'safety.' )) --- then, we'd still have Scally in charge - bleeding the cash cow dry - with no investment, closed shops etc etc etc...... basically prolonging the death of GFC - before Bauvill bulldozed their way onto the pitch !

Obviously we have Galinsons' to thank for the upturn around the place...and maybe the fact that we are in L2, rather than L1 when Galinson entered into 'negotiations' -- because -- I am certain that Scally would have wanted far too much for a poor L1 Club - rather than a L2 Club with massive potential.....thankfully the price was right.
    Relegation -- better than oblivion.

Fate certainly works in mysterious ways. We got lucky, very lucky.

As much as I am grateful to Brad and his family, I do think what's in it for them, because I'm just not seeing it, unless we go on to success and I'm not just meaning L2 promotion.

Football has become a billionaires game with the Arab's buying up clubs like Man City and Newcastle United. But you are not going to make a billion selling three thousand season tickets nor lifting a L2 title. It has to be a long term project, with new ground and Championship football at the very least.

Put another way, if I won the lottery and ploughed in the money Brad has done, then I'd just be looking at it as a loss, because unless you bail out and sell the ground for development, there is no profit at the lower depths of league football these days - you are just as likely to implode quicker than a Titanic sub out of it's depth.

But hey let's enjoy the ride, I'm too bloody old to care, I'm just grateful we aint sponsored by Oceangate, although it felt like it until 6 months ago. <whistle>

brb - bad boy -- Titanic sub jokes a little too early !
I understand your scepticism - - and I am equally 'suspicious.'
......and being pragmatic - I also expect Galinson to (probably) expect a 'return' for his money........ and - if the football doesn't work - that 'return' is likely to be in the form of a new housing estate (( and NO Gillingham Football Club. ))..........

..... and if that happens, Galinson will be vilified more than Scally could ever be ! --Whilst I am realistic enough to know that Priestfield could yet be turned into housing - let's be totally honest - THAT situation would be happening NOW if Scally was still in charge.... I am absolutely certain that, under Scally, Gills would NOT exist in August.

...at least with the Galinsons, we still have a club - which appears to be in the hands of somebody who 'properly' wants it to thrive ..... and if it doesn't happen - it won't be for the lack of trying (( as shown by Scally. ))

Totally agree with you mate. I just hope our fans behave themselves, especially when things don't go so well, another reason I would hate to own the club, couldn't be dealing with the grief when things go abit not as expected..

We don't really no if it was good or bad that we got relegated into league 2, same if we were relegated to non league. A lot of clubs have dropped down but now have bigger fan bases. Also some have also ceased . What we do know is the Galinsons have brought it so many positive vibes to the club. It seems Scally is still making noises aswell, still not out of the picture at club.
