Taking Turkish flags to Elland Road would be provocative to be honest. Doing so on, or close to, the anniversary of the two fans' deaths would be very provocative and bound to provoke a reaction.

At the MKM though, they'll just have to suck it up.

I'm not doubting that they'll hate it, and I'm not saying I'll be there with one. I'm saying it's their problem if they can't see a country's flag without rioting.

Best case scenario imo would be for Leeds and City to make a public statement acknowledging many City fans wave Turkish flags in appreciation of the owners but politely asking City fans not to bring any Turkish flags to Elland Road and that stewards will confiscate them before entering the ground to prevent it kicking off.

Any City fan who would have an issue with this is just looking to start trouble.

Think the more in tune fans will be aware. Its the ones who aren't and the intoxicated I would be concerned about. Otherwise I do agree with you

A sensible bit of educating as it will be 24 years since the event therefore most of our youth weren't even born then and will probably no nothing of these murders.

Do Juventus fans have a meltdown when they see an England flag?

They, rightly, get upset about references to Hillsborough but some do things like that. Never hear as much about the Juventus final either.

That was the general consensus on the coach as we set off to lower league Donny in November 1975 for the League Cup game…

    Not sure I agree really.
I’m not a flag waver anyway, but some are.
A Liverpool fan flashing the flag at Leeds fans when they presumably had no link to Turkey is obviously deliberate provocation, as it would be if City fans never took Turkish flags to away games but did to Bellend Rd.
However as they often do then unless the clubs do put out a joint statement asking them not to then I’m afraid they’ll just have to suck it up.
Not City fans fault what date the game is and clearly the EFL aren’t bothered, and unless we find out that Leeds asked for the fixture not to be on that date and it was overruled then clearly they’re not that bothered either.
It’s a country’s flag FFS not a deliberately printed shirt suggesting more should have died there…

I imagine leeds will be doing some sort of ceremony
    Minutes silence etc
    On the day
So ye there’s no need to take flags
And why the **** we fly a Turkish flag **** knows
He’s Turkish we aren’t and the club isn’t

Yeah I agree with all that.
More preempting that if someone does then not all the blame should be on them.
Both clubs and the EFL have had, and will have, opportunities to step in to avoid it if they think it’s important.
