That’s funny, I was going to suggest Fulham when people were saying he is running out of options with Newcastle looking elsewhere
Bit unsure why he'd turn down Brentford though - I would have thought they'd be quite an attractive option.
Fulham will pay more wages I’d imagine. Can’t see who at Brentford would be on the £100kpw JWP was rumoured to be on here. Toney possibly but not sure how recently he signed a deal.
From when I used to work with some agents 18 months ago, I remember hearing that Brentford’s pay structure is capped at £50k-£60k per week. The contracts are also heavily incentivised, rather than guaranteed money. Not sure if that’s still the case, but suspect it is. Fulham will pay close to £100k and their training ground would be quite drivable from Hampshire…
F*cking Fulham? Oh James, what for, mate? You're giving up Southampton legend status, for the most bland f*cking yo-yo team in the Prem. And 30m? I though we had set the price at 52m?
Yeah I did kind of think this, but then if he isn’t going to go to one of the top 6/7 then you may aswell just go to the one of the other 13 teams, who all could go down at any point, who pays the most. If Everton sort out some money that would be the perfect destination for him. I do get the impression that he wants to stay in the south which means a London club
Fulham He is more than likely going to get relegated again in the next few years if he goes there! I'd get the move if it was to a big club that are prem regulars and may challenge for Europe or trophies... but Fulham?! they have had one good season!
Not sure we can be too snobby. Top half, gets to earn a top PL salary which is roughly double what he’d be earning here and he doesn’t even have to uproot his family. Seems pretty good to me. Not like Fulham are long ball, either, so it suits him on that front also.
Yeah, if we were still in the Prem and he went there it would be a slight upwards move, but pretty much sideways. Now we aren’t it’s definitely an upwards move. He gets to leave the ex blandest team in the PL to the new blandest team, and bland is a good summary of him in general None of the big teams would want him so Fulham/West Ham seems perfect for him from a money and life choice
I agree, Fulham will definitely be relegated again, if not next season probably the season after. Yo yo team.
Fulham aren't an established top half premier league team - they finished there once after getting promoted the season before. Sheffield United did the exact same a couple of years back and we know what happened next. Also I've read that he doesn't have a relegation wage clause, so is still on 100k at Saints, can't imagine Fulham are paying much more than that. Just seems very odd when there is every chance we could be in the league above Fulham next year. I think he deserves a bigger move.
Ivan Toney was born on March 16, 1996, and plays for Premier League club Brentford as a striker. He is also a part of the England national team. He earns a weekly salary of £21,000, according to Sportrac, which works out to £1,092,000 a year. He signed a five year £5,460,000 deal with the club in 2020. His basic could be, maybe he counts on appearances, goal bonus , assists, MOTM awards etc. I am sure MLT wage was low here but built up on addons.
