To go along with the Olivier Giroud story this morning I have just seen this tweeted by @Darren_Can

Can't say I know anything about the lad to be honest and his English Wikipedia page is almost empty.

Looking at his French page he's from Burkina Faso, a midfielder.

Started his career at Planete Champion, before joining Auxerre. He was set to join Man Utd before problems getting a work permit. Ferguson had wanted to send him on loan to a Belgian club to get round that but the player decided on Auxerre.

Don't know if anyone on here knows any more about him?

 

I know nothing about him to be honest.

I'm assuming this is cover for Tiote then? Since we have plenty of midfielders for other positions. Haven't seen him play so can't comment on him, but this sounds a lot like the Banghura style talk to hype a players interest.

 

So long as he's better than Djimi Traore....

 

He's joint 4th top scorer this season with 6 goals in Ligue 1 (same as Remy, Pastore and Nene). Is that guy sure he's a midfielder? His scoring record this season makes him look like a striker to me.

 

What an error prone player he was for Pool and Pompey.

i think this will be a great buy, if we offload ranger and bring him in, we wont need to retake the team photo... all part of mikes cost cutting philosophy

 

If I remember right he has a Champions League winners medal.....was he at Pompey when they won the FA Cup? Jeeezzzz.

 

Or bring him in, wait for him to be a huge success, sell him on in three years time for five times the price to liverpool and actually send them ranger.....

Reckon we'd really be in for a new playmaker then, considering we obviously need cover for Tiote but we've got Gosling, Guthrie, Ben Arfa, Abeid and Vuckic for playmakers already...

Whether or not Guthrie is good enough in the long run remains to be seen and maybe Abeid, Vuckic and Gosling are still seen as future prospects.

I cant see much in this rumour though... youd have thought a striker, at least one centre back and a right or left back would come before a CM?

 

Vuckic, Abeid and Ferguson I heard are going out on loan soon and Smith is way past it.. so were only really left with Gosling and Guthrie as our CM back-ups.. also this guy seems to me like he can play as a AM/out wide and upfront. Good versatile squad player I guess.
