A long time ago in a galexy far far away Russell Martin is trying to escape from Swansea's evil empire to join the Saints
There once was a club down south, Whose new manager caused a drought, Russel Martin's the name, But the wait's been a pain, Southampton fans are starting to pout.
I am not going to write him off or moan non-stop but I would like to know what his 'strong track record' is that Kraft is quoted as saying in the website article. By most metrics, it would be 'average' at best or am I being a bit mean?
Bit of amniosity there between the clubs. We don't even mention Swansea in our statement, calling them "the Welsh club" instead
Only concern is that it could hamper us in going for Matt Grimes, if we are as interested as suggested. Unless they know we are coming back so they are actually saying ‘you will have to pay above the going rate if you want any more’. I’ll stop trying to be telepathic though, because it’s usually incorrect.
Like this bit from the club website* "Southampton Football Club anticipates an exciting era under the guidance of N̶a̶t̶h̶a̶n̶ J̶o̶n̶e̶s̶ R̶u̶b̶e̶n̶ S̶e̶l̶l̶e̶s̶ Russell Martin and hope fans will give him a warm welcome to the club. Further announcements regarding the coaching staff and pre-season preparations will follow in due course" *I may have changed it a bit
I agree. The only redeeming quality for me is the fact I know he is highly rated within the game. Which is more than could be said for NJ & Selles
