That was my thinking originally, but it's been suggested that he also wants to play in the Premier League and if there is any truth to the many rumours of our interest then our transfer team have obviously not received a firm "no" from the player's side, or they wouldn't be bothering. To add to that we'd be doubling his wages... If so, it's possible.

Our central midfield is one of our strongest areas, none of our wingers are CL quality. You could argue Bruno and Joelinton are.

We have more depth at winger position but less quality. We need a good winger, at times we really did lack creativity and struggled when teams parked the bus.

Teams like Leeds, West Ham, Palace, Bournemouth, Leicester etc shouldn't be avoiding defeat at St James'.

Our best winger is Almiron, and we cannot hope he has another purple patch.

I think we need a winger and CM - Maddison and Szobolzai would be my picks as they are versatile and play centrally and wide.

Difference is bro we only play 2 wingers but play 3 CM's - the 4 wingers will get us through plus as previously mentioned Willock, Joelinton and Isak can all fill in and do a job out there so in effect we have 7 who can play out wide to cover 2 positions but only 4 players to cover 3 positions over the course of the season in CM. The only option in CM would probably be either Anderson - not mentioned or potentially Schar in an emergency but then that has knock on effects all over the pitch and unless Eddie changes the formation which doesn't seem likely that's your lot in CM. Miggy and Gordon have also played there but from a defensive point of view I'd be nervy about playing them in the CM positions and would steer clear.

A CM or two are the priority for sure, then a LB starter and a CB to replace Lascelles after that we can start looking at the front line imo.
