I wouldn't be surprised if that is his best score, for any team, since the 100 final in 2021. I won't go as far to say that I'm happy with that score. But I'm content. And confident we can defend it if we get Hammond early.
Nathan Lyon!!!!!! For me, he would be the first name on any current teamsheet- test, T20, ,50 overs. I suggested this guy could be the key.to the Ashes! 8 wickets so far! Hope he gets 30+ wickets in this series!!
Glamorgan continue their campaign of losing every match against sides above them, and winning every match against sides below them.
If it was a decent wicket, I'd say it massively plays in Gloucs' favour, due to the wickets in hand. But this isn't a decent wicket.
You've got to take a different mindset when DLS comes into play. When the target is 69 off 6.3 overs or whatever there's no point saving your death bowlers until the end. Just use them up front and get that RRR well up. Bowling Dawson twice was stupid as well.
Now I'm concerned. Yes, there was nothing we could do about the rain. But it remains the case that we've opened the door big time for Glamorgan and Kent (who are flying since they beat us - almost replicating our previous two seasons). Need to win two from our last three now. Essex on Friday is even bigger now than it already was.
If we could be confident that today was the turnaround in Whiteley's form, I'd be dropping Fuller for Mason for those three home games. We could just about get away with pushing Dawson, Howell and Wood all one place up the order - and it's not like Fuller is scoring any runs anyway. But I don't think we can be confident about Whiteley. It might just be a one-off (I suspect it is). And if he can do it tonight, maybe Fuller can do it in a later game. If we can finish this week still in 4th place, I think we'll be OK. We'll have all played 12 games. But the risk is that Kent (or potentially Glamorgan, but less likely) overtake us.
Just a fan of high class spin bowling!! As much as I would like England to win, I stated a few weeks ago that Lyon could well be the key factor. Having observed the outcome of this test, England are going in with three high class seamers, whereas.the Aussies have five frontline bowlers. While England have the best batter in Joe Root, they desperately need another century maker to counter Aussies better bowling attack.
