Me neither but just say that he might be a sleeper agent like Redknap. Sent by Poopey to send us down
With Gary o Neill and Darren Moore loeaving their positions yesterday, I was wondering if anyone else felt that we should have left the dust settle on the season before appointinf Russell Martin. I think there are now better candidates out there avalable with no compensation payments to hold up appointments.
It is hard to say yet. Are they better than Russell Martin? I don't know but I think RM will do OK for us. Only time will tell.
Marv I do not see another Nathan Jones disaster. I think Martin may struggle to begin with and expect us to miss the play-offs and finish mid-table. My perception is that we will have a totallynew squad in August and that it will takemore than a season to make it gel. My expectations are realistic for 23/24.
O'Neil has had one season in management, and no one saw his sacking coming. Moore is hardly an improvement on Martin, so, nah.
A lot depends on who we keep squad wise and who we recruit. I think your expectations are realistic Ian. It may be better to have a couple of seasons in the Championship than rush straight back into the Premiership but if we want to keep players like Charly we need to do it sooner rather than later.
He also said he loves it here. He said he wanted to play Premiership football but maybe he will stay until the Jan transfer window to see where we are at.
I suspect we're (hopefully) saying to a few of the choice options (such as Alacaraz and Sulemana. Maybe even Lavia if Arsenal doesn't happen) - "you've only just come here. Give us another season and we'll let you go then if we haven't achieved promotion". The difference this year to previous years, is that we don't need to sell. On the flipside, the issue being that in the year where we didn't need to, we went and got relegated, but hey-ho - we need to have some bollocks this time around.
Underwhelmed……but then again so was I when we appointed Poch after sacking Nigel, happy to be wrong again.
The way Swansea finished last season is very encouraging. I'm definitely willing to give Martin a chance.
I’m barely whelmed at all. All footballed out, in fact. Next season will be interesting though. Whatever will be, will be…
Apart from Alan Ball, Glenn Hoddle, and Ronald Koeman, underwhelmed has been my initial reaction to just about every managerial appointment at SFC from Lawrie McMenemy onwards, so I’ll just wait and see.
Possession based football with a positive purpose is what i've read about his style very much like Nige's Championship promotion team so i'm looking forward to seeing some pretty and hopefully winning football.
I asked a Swans STH on here and he said there was a lot of possession for possessions sake (going between defence and keeper and so on) so not yet convinced it's possession with a purpose but we'll soon find out. Apparently they conceded loads of late goals too. All sounds remarkably familiar
