Good Morning. It's Tuesday 20th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road O'Neill linked with ER hot seat Gary O'Neill has become the latest in a long line of prospective candidates linked with the vacant ER hot-seat, after Bournemouth ruthlessly sacked him yesterday, only to replace him hours later with Andoni Iraola. O'Neill 40yo, can feel hard done by, especially after defying all odds, by guiding the South Coast minnows to a respectable 15th place top flight finish. The Cherries are making a statement, a proclamation Leeds Utd should listen too, loud and clear. They don't want to make do with mediocrity, and are ready to kick-on to the next level; something Leeds should have done after their 9th place finish back two years ago. please log in to view this image Leeds turn down Rangers bid for England U21 star dubbed Batman Leeds have turned down an undisclosed bid from Rangers for central defender Charlie Cresswell. The 20yo caught the attention of many would be suitors, after impressing during his season long loan in Bermondsey last season. He came close to joining Coventry City in January, after Leeds accepted an offer for him, but thankfully he turned the move down. In 2264 minutes of game time (before fracturing his eye socket in early April) last season, Cressy netted four times, provided two assists and gained six man of the match awards. One of his best attributes has to be his aerial ability, which according to Whoscored is the best in the Championship at 5.2. Leeds shipped 78 goals last season, more than any other top flight club. The Championship may be a little more forgiving, allowing Leeds to integrate the more senior members of the developmental squad into the starting line-up. Cresswell is currently away at the European Under-21 Championship finals in Georgia where he has earnt the nickname “Batman” due to the protective mask he wears in training. Matteo Joseph and Darko Gyabi didn't make the squad. Gerrard re-enters frame for Managerial role Steven Gerrard has once again re-entered the frame to become next Leeds boss, after returning back to Blighty, eight days into his Middle Eastern adventure! According to media reports at the time, the 43yo Liverpudlian had signed a deal to take the helm at Saudi outfit Al-Ettifaq, only to backtrack days later. It is believed that Gerrard is keen on the Leeds role, and along with Gary McAllister (his assistant) are ready for their next Managerial challenge. please log in to view this image
Morning all… O’Neil, the options just get worse. Out of all the names mentioned only Potter excites me, Corberan I’d say we could do worse but Gerrard, Farke and Parker, all pretty much the same. Warnock had a great record of getting teams promoted but could never cut it in the PL, I understand why the board is seeking someone with PL experience, Farke and Parker are starting to feel like a modern day Warnock option and out of the sensible targets it only leaves Potter who you can consider as good experience not a disaster
Morning all. Let's be honest. This is all just fiction and speculation. None of us have a clue who's being considered for the job. It's mainly twitter rubbish being driven by latest betting odds. I doubt 49ers can go much further with appointments anyway until they are cleared to take over
On another note, Parker and Farke were big options last week, if we really have nobody else possible should it really be taking this long. The board want someone with PL experience ruling out Corberan. Apparently we never approached Iraola this time around and Rodger’s nailed his banner to Celtic from the word go and said at the start NO to the championship. So with the length of time it’s taking surely there has to be more than Parker and Farke as candidates, has the board got a pleasant surprise for us. Are they trying their upmost for Potter. Please don’t let it be they were waiting for Gerrard to decide on the Saudi job
The club were permitted to sign the interim DOF so I see no difference in the coach being appointed, Tyler Roberts and Llorente being lined up to exit, I think we’re okay on that front mate
Morning all. There’s really no reason for the EFL to take so long in ratifying this seeing as the 49s already owned 44% of the club anyway.
Well for whatever reason, Celtic able to target their man and appoint within a couple of days, Bournemouth a matter of hours while were weeks talking about it. All very fine taking your time to get right appointment but maybe nobody wants the gig just like after Marsch went
The options just keep getting worse. I'd settle for Farke or Potter right now but I don't think Potter would come. Farke - Not the biggest name but plenty of experience getting out of the division, plays good football. Horrible in the Prem but with one of the worst squads in recent history. Potter - I also wouldn't mind but i'm not as excited as everyone else would be, so much of his reputation is based on one decent season out of three at Brighton which i'd argue is more down to their scouting network given how much they've improved since he left but we'd probably play some decent football with him. Corberan - I'm 50/50 on him. Has been decent at WBA, could've got a crap Huddersfield team promoted. Parker - Not for me, got promoted once but wouldn't say doing it via the playoffs was much of an achievement with that squad. O'Neil - Did alright with a **** team last season but we don't know anything about how he'd handle the Championship. It's a big risk that we shouldn't need to take. Gerrard - F*** off.
Our wonderful club are now accepting applications for the 10% refund/rebate to ST holders as promised after relegation. Choices are; Refund to bank account. Credit for use on futher purchases such as 2024/25 ST. Don't claim rebate and club will donate to Academy. Morning all by the way
Was thinking about rodgers earlier taking the celtic job. Rangers is local so that's four fixtures with no travel. Hearts and hibs just a short drive away. I suspect he did not fancy the 46 game slog in the championship. Even dundee/aberdeen and motherwell not that far away.
With the 4 extra games and the 10% rebate it's now means the cheapest adult ST works out at an incredible £16.70 per game. That's superb value from our club. Now if only there were an extra 20,000 available at that price.
Good morning everyone You all know my feelings on the head coach, totally agree with ristac, Potter is the only one which gets my excitement levels up, Would be a real statement to the championship and to the supporters, that the club are taking our predicament seriously, potter has flair and the skill to advance this club back to the PL, not only that with the right backing from the 49r's make us initally a mid table or above side, and who knows after that? but i for one would start enjoying again the football on show from our new decent side, because finally we will have the right leadership on and off the field.
