Any Defensive Midfielders on the list ? Or shall we loan someone already injured in January like we usually do ?
That's the big question without a doubt. Given how little we're likely to have spent on the four players already signed, are we focusing the remaining budget on a healthy, quality DM? Any players leaving now will need to be replaced but other than DM, the shape of the squad looks well balanced, though we could do with another option in attack for Wagner's 'intense tactics' to work effectively. As CS says, much will depend on how SAINZ settles in and contributes from the off. We now have a healthy group of Spanish speaking players and the new Spanish coach will help as well. I'm beginning to be more hopeful about next season.
The highlights show he's got pace, the skills to beat players and a range of accurate shooting skills - no simple tap-ins there. Could be a key addition considering the attacking players we've lost. Given that WhoScored rates his defensive contribution as high, he looks to be a potentially strong player next season. Samuel Seaman even dares to suggest some similarities to Buendia: https://www.pinkun.com/news/23598258.norwich-city-transfers-borja-sainz-profile-canaries-close-move/
Perhaps the rest of our player additions will be subject to sales? For me, we need another striker. Sergeant has a proven track record, Barnes will be an experienced support striker. Idah seems incapable of regular scoring albeit he only gets minimal playing time. He was a substitute in a recent international. Still hasn’t scored for R of Ireland.
Missed that DD. I last saw the score at 2-0. He must have scored the third goal.Perhaps we should be more charitable. A certain Harry Kane wasn’t much of a scorer when he was on loan.
The main text, tricky: "He didn't do enough to convince Alaves that he was worth keeping. That rejection may look like a negative sign for Norwich fans, but it's worth remembering that the majority of their business in the first iteration of Webber's yellow and green project involved previous rejects. Marco Stiepermann, Moritz Leitner and Mario Vrancic all failed to make names for themselves at Borussia Dortmund, while Teemu Pukki had struggled in Scottish football with Celtic. Even Emi Buendia had been rejected by Real Madrid and Getafe, but, much like Sainz, burst into life in a struggling side. His Leonesa side were relegated as Giresunspor have been with Sainz, but both managed to star in those teams. The Spaniard had 13 goal involvements even as they finished 16th last term, and Norwich fans will hope he can bring similar numbers to Carrow Road."
That's a decent price for Andrew. I still have the £27m in my head, though. It would be hard to say no to Max if he wants to leave after all he's done for the club. £15-20m would be better.
Mosquito is right-footed RW who can also play at WL or AM. At 25, he should be near his peak years and his current contract expires in December this year so the price should be reasonable. There could be a drawback however: "Interestingly, though, Transfermarkt list Mosquito as having a ruptured knee ligament at present, with no date set for his return." Nathan is a 20 year old RB with a year left on his contract. For those without a Pinkun subscription: https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/norwich-city-eyeing-double-brazilian-transfer-swoop/
The link that Dunc sent let me view the whole article, it mentions that Mosquito is due to return at the beginning of July from the injury
