... have started, I'm watching and it's 'interesting'.

Feel free to post any comments.

My first is out of the box tbh, WTF is it with bongo drums <doh>

They take up loads of room, the bongo players always look like they're in agony, drenched in sweat and thrashing themselves into a frenzy ...

... but worst of all you can never fiicking hear them <laugh>

Wasn't too impressed with what I saw of the IOW festival.
Some really poor performances, but the Worst of the Worst award has to go to Robbie Williams. Can't stand the bloke as it is, but he was abysmal.

Blondie was pretty poor as well I thought, but was good to see Glen Matlock on bass.

Hoping Glastonbury is better....at least the BBC coverage will be better than Sky's IOW effort.

I mentioned before, l am a huge fan of Fairpot Conventions Croperdy festive, near Banbury, l worked on the festival from 1983 until 2004 when l was required to take an electrical exam due to government law changes. As l had a proper job in research l decided to call it a day.
I will be going again this year 2nd weekend in August, but only for 1 day due to commitments.

    He's absolutely abysmal.

Just a series of impersonations from a pub singer version of Elton John to a cruise ship Frank Sinatra ...

... who on earth buys his records and plays them twice.

I do enjoy Glastonbury when it's on. Never been. Loved it in the 90s when I was into music more.

Love Glastonbury. Been 6-7 times from 2007 to 2016 with missing the odd one between. Then family life got in the way.

It really is one of the best places to be. If you love your music, it's just great. Silly amount of stages and activity away from the main areas, never get bored. And party all night if you wanted. Line up this year isn't great but still will be a class festival. Some of the lads who I used to go with managed to snag tickets this year. Think there are 5 of them going.

Or Mick Bubble as Mrs Smug would say.

I remember before I started to get serious with my career, I kept all the bands on at all times. Think it got from 2007 to 2013 with them all on my wrist <laugh>.

It is our biggest and best music festival, and has a great variety of music genres, plus as @Prehab26 mentioned so much more.

It's wonderful and I’ll be recording it, as usual, so I can watch the highlights over and over. It's also a great way to pick up new acts you didn't previously know.

For me the highlights are rarely the headliners. Some of them just leave me cold and seem to be there purely for the nostalgia. Having old people like Paul McCartney, who doesn't seem able to sing any more, is a bit weird imo. I don't expect Elton John to be any better, he sounds more like a pub singer every year.

I'll watch him, to try to see what others do, but think it'll just be his stage show which has lots of noise, lights and backing to mask his voice.

I seem to agree with what your saying, but people like Paul McCartney are proper music people and in their heyday were great singer, song writers.
I would add Rod Stewart onto your list, but he has never been able to sing. Saw him when he was in Steamboat, or Steampackage at Woking Atlanta all those years ago, and he couldn't sing then.
I do love to see acts that l have never heard of, and Glasto does do that in a big way.
This year's line up as @Prehab26 said is not inspiring me, but will watch nevertheless.

Strangely, as I used to really like them, I'm least looking forward to the Arctic Monkeys headline slot. Going to watch both G&R and Elton purely for nostalgia. The BBC iplayer usually show the majority of bands from the 2 outdoor stages and the indoor tent stage so you normally get a bit of everything.

I saw Robbie in his pomp at Hyde Park. He was absolutely unbelievable. Great showman. I watched him the other evening at the IOW, and agree totally with you.

Same here, I'd never have gone out of my way to see Lizzo ...

... but I thought it was different and joyous.

I'll be avoiding Lewis Capaldi. We've just had a new big screen and it would be at risk from a flying pint glass. I've absolutely no idea what he's supposed to be except for a drunken busker who sneaked on stage during a sound check.

See Alex Turner has acute laryngitis and they’ve cancelled all shows in the run up.

Hope it doesn’t take away from their show, just one of the great bands. Seen them in Sheffield when they were coming up and they blew me away, then watched them rise and rise (some moments when they disappeared up their own arses)

Hope they manage to put on a show.

    Great voice...powerful voice.

Ive never been, but what I like about Glastonbury is the wide variety of acts on. Smug mentioned Lizzo...I didn't have a clue who Wet Leg were but really enjoyed watching them last year. There was quite a few who I thought put on great performance, who I wouldn't normally listen to, or even heard of. Wolf Alice was another one....thought they were brilliant.

It does help that the BBC have excellent coverage of it, I think that makes a big difference.
