I wouldnt be surprised if we did spend 7 million on a player we really rate

We spent over £10 million in total last summer, I reckon we will spend 15 million or so this yr. We dont need loads of players so wouldnt surprise me if we spend a decent amount on 1 player

 

i do apologise, i honestly had no idea you were so high up in the UEFA chain of office...listen, if/when the 'real' money is starting to move to just the right accounts then the ESL will start to gain momentum, i believe a good part of the original fail was down to fan pressure (we all like to think that as everything stands there is always a chance we might get to experience it) due to them wanting a closed league and basically giving them either first dibs at euro competitions or exlusive rights.

i don't think anyone knows exactly what the eventual outcome but it might have even pushed to get rid of cup winners and domestic league places across europe in an attempt to keep all the good income in one place...we can all shout but let's face it, who really and honestly thought we would ever have a world cup half way into a season in a country unheard of for it's footballing mastery/history yet it did happen.

 

We paid something like that for Clarke I believe.

Clarke was no where near that, he has clauses that will get his fee past that, but up front wasnt anywhere near.

The last club accounts say we spent £5.5 million and that included Clarke, Ballard and a couple of others.

 

It's very rare fees are paid totally upfront. We may well have only spent 5.5 million within that 12 months period. Doesn't mean we haven't commited to spend more over time, as most transfer fees are given.

There will be loads of add on clauses to all our deals, but i was responding to a post that said we spent £7 million on Clarke, which we will IF he hits all the targets in the deal, but up front it was under £2 million

If we do spend around £7m on a striker then that is seriously going for it.

3 strikers is the number I'm looking for too (Stewart, Semedo, French lad) to compete for that sole striker spot.

Get Diallo back (I know - it'll be difficult to convince Man U), as well as a 3rd striker and we have serious fire power up top.

Still need an experienced CM though - Henderson would be an absolute dream but I can't see it.

 

I didn't say we paid it all upfront, don't see any reason we'd have to stump up 7m upfront for this French lad either. Don't think that's how it works.
