I think the relevant question to ask here is: is the WJ deal dead in the water, or does he want more time to think?! As for McClaren, he ticks all the boxes for club connection, but also ticks a few for recent failure and baggage. I think a lot will have to do on what NB reckons the dressing room think about various names. It would seem the club's priority is to keep the youngsters happy and at the club. SM might scare a few off - they wont care he is an ex player etc... I'm hoping NB holds the fort until they can twist WJ's arm. We need the young uns to be happy and stay...
Richard Sutcliffe had this in today's YP, which means he had the story very early yesterday. Fair play, it seems he's ahead of the game on this.
Joyce is obvioulsy not interested, he's turned us down once and he's done it a second time now. My personal opinion is that the whole NP leaving saga is an indication of something not being quite right internally at the club. Maybe Papa Allam has gone a bit too bonkers this time. It's all good and well us speculating on the various names we want to come but if there are things they are likely to be coming into that we dont know about, maybe the squad we have isn't enough of a lure to compensate for other issues
And that story suggests it isn't WJ who doesn't want to come - it is the fact NP needs to sign off formally first that is stopping WJ coming?!
Anyway, surely this is now time for McLaren? A more experienced head with Nick alongside him ticks the boxes for me at least. I always felt 2 inexperienced heads in the management team was a dangerous game and I havent changed my mind.
After you put that up on the other thread I had a quick look (granted only on Wiki). He seems to have done well at Bournemouth and Donny, getting both clubs promoted, and keeping Donny up when they barely had 11 fit players to pick from for part of the season was a great achievement. Donny did play good football under him. His win ratio looks to be 36.20 at both clubs. He is currently unattached. I'd rather have him than some of the other names that have been mentioned by the bookies
Ive nowt against him but those who didnt like Pearson "cos he had no personality and didnt like the media" (buffoons) will have a field day with O'Driscoll. Jesus Christ....
O'Driscoll has more knowledge of this division, more than Barmby, Joyce and Robinson. The only thing that worries me about him is his teams don't know how to defend. Whether that's down to not having players like Chester or Rosenior at the back, i duuno.
O'Driscoll talking to Grayson recently.......
O Driscoll will have problems if he doesnt play the media game as that's what our (more simple) fans seem to expect, a performing seal. They need to get Mclaren in with Barmby assistant/future manager
How about O'Driscoll with a seal as his assistant manager? Cut radio interviews out and get fans to watch FLS...
Genuine overheard conversation in the gym this morning: "I'm glad Pearson has gone, he had no personality did he? At least Brown was a good laugh". Unbelievable. If that's what our fans want then why not put Joe Pasquale in charge? I wanted to inerject and say "So how many times have you heard of players falling out with Pearson? How crowded was his naughty step?" It really isnt the point but Nigel is actually a really funny, affable guy - he just doesnt portray this with the media. The players loved him which never could be said of Brown. I despair sometimes, I really do.
