On the subject of Elections, the ramifications of the decline of The SNP could have serious ramification come our next General Elections. Prior to The SNP becoming popular, most of Scotland voted Labour. The highlands and Islands tended to go Liberal, and there were only the odd Tory seat, or none at all. They have the same First Past The Post (FPTP) system as the rest of The UK. Then along comes The Scottish Parliament, ( And this bit may well confuse our Austalian Friend.) They went for a mix od Proportional Representation and FPTP. As I understand it there are about 73 Constituancies and 8 regions Each voter gets two votes, one for each. The constituency is FPTP. The Regional a variation on PR. The Parties submit their list of names for the PR part of the vote, (Please feel free to do your own research on this, but it sounds to me like some scheme cooked up in the free bar after a Distillery Tour) The result is that the small parties, like THe Green's, have a good chance of some seats.on the PR Lists. It also gives The Tory Party more seats than they have ever been used to. Come the next Election, it is anticipated that Labour will get most of the SNP votes back. This will boost The Party's numbers in Parliament. The Liberals will, most likely benefit too. The Tory Party is Likely to revert to having no members from Scotland, in the commons. Labour will be the Governing Party, north of The Border and the Green Party, currently in The Coalition, will return to the fringes.

Not particularly. Although I do think proportionality has its place here - a group of people who by necessity i.e. the confines of Downing Street, working far too closely together for regulations having a few beers when they've been sitting in each others laps all day versus turning up in a whole new area of the country, mixing and having a beer or two despite it being fewer people. Which holds the largest risk of a new set of infections. The really annoying thing about all of that was the idea that it suddenly stopped being contagious if you were working.

Why are these well connected megarich CEOs of water companies allowed to ruin our summer holidays. My grandchildren are on holiday near Whitby and, in beautiful weather, people have been advised not to go in the water. It's all very well for people if they can jet off to beaches in impoverished third world countries, with crystal clear waters, but not for those stuck here checking daily sewage reports. It's an absolute disgrace.
It's a real sickener when they've taken all their swimming stuff, paddle boards, etc, and raw sewage is being pumped into the sea of a holiday resort. Ironically they're near Robin Hood's Bay ... ... having their holiday ruined by people taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich.
The Tories are defaecating all over the welfare state, NHS, and public utilities so I wouldn't feel too guilty
