Supposedly both clubs are chasing our Welsh international with an estimated fee of £5m rumoured. Not a bad profit for a player we picked up on a freebie but I would rather we kept him.
Fulham are looking for a right back but.... Can't see us paying £5m for a relatively untried 19 year old Right-back. unless it is to put him in the reserve for the future. Other than that there was a rumor down here about Mark Wilson to Fulham. And we are also looking at Swedish right back Mikael Lustig of Rosenberg Might pay £5m for Emilio Izaguirre when he's fit next season.
Wilson's out injured AGAIN. Izzy for £5m Matthews is a cracking player and already has five international caps and looks at home at that level.
£5m should be a case of bite your hand off but as trip and fall says Lawwell would net most of it and the rest would cover Desmond's expenses for being absent. Anyway can't be arsed with 40 right backs coming in on trial for months till me find a replacement.
Lawell would no doubt try tirelessly to get a replacement in before 11.59 pm on Jan 31 (by bidding half a players value with seconds to go and theyn telling the world the selling club refused to sell - despite HIS best efforts) Not sure on Matthews yet - but he's looked okay so far - can play a few positions also. May or may not go on to be worth more than £5m but he's 19 - lets leave him aa year or two and then sell on. Id rather have him than Cha - thats for sure
Smells like more bullshit. For a start, Everton haven't got 2 bob to rub together, so they are not going to be paying £5m for an unproven full back who's been out injured half the time. Secondly. please log in to view this image
Agree with our man S B Mc B,we are not exactly cash strapped, but 5mil, this has got to be a wind up. 2/3m maybe worth a punt.
****ing hell, nomark teams like fulham are talking about 2-3 million pound punts....different ball game. First time i saw Matthews he was having a mare against Ireland in the carling nations(and regional representative team) cup. I'm Impressed with him so far. He hardly kicked a ball at right back to make a reasoned judgement on him though.
Had a great game for Wales on Saturday , when he first broke into Cardiff team ,Man utd showed their interest. Not had a bad game for us whatever position he has played
I would be more concerned if a bid came in for Ledley. Wouldn't surprise me if a couple of clubs put bids in.
We are in the market for a right back but Fulham and Everton are two clubs I can't see splashing 5million on a relatively unknown prospect.
