Vettel's spin - your first thought.

OK, being honest, for those who watched it live, what was your first thought when you saw Vettel spinning out?
I know what mine would have been...

EDIT: That was my first thought.

Worked out well in the end, so don't know why I thought that.

 

My immediate concern was that it was the other Red Bull

 

tbh I initially thought someone must of hit his tyre but when they showed the replays, nobody was anywhere near

I was looking for a damaged McLaren and waiting for a radio message from Lewis, soon as I saw the replay I agreed with DC.

 

I was at work while watching live it in the cafeteria.
The whole room cheered when he spun off but I think I was the only one who felt sorry for the poor lad.

 

I thought it was Webber untill brundle said it was vettel and I am in now ay ashamed to admit my reaction was

I got to admit, I thought Hamilton made contact with him!

 

My first thought?
- It was very similar to Coulthard's: I thought it likely that clipping the kerb with cold tyres (and thereby lower pressure) could have allowed deflation, due to lateral movement of the bead of the tyre.

 

At first I thought it was Webber, then when Martin said Vettel I thought wow he was due some bad luck. Then I was hoping to see him fight his way through the field for the first time this year, that wouldve been fun to watch.

 

I'll be honest i was looking for lewis going slowly with a broken front wing going by his form this season.
Feel sorry vettel but the luck finally ran out and even with only one car left in the race red bull go and mess up webbers stop which was a shock again as they've been the best this season on stops

 

It seemed to me that what with an extra 150 Kg of fuel, 'coldish' tyre and running over the bump of the kerb and slowly back - that must have been enough to break the bead and loose pressure pretty quickly - certainly enough to slew the car round.

 

Is that Webber... YES!!!! Potentially a good race, thank god

A slight loss of pressure from the kerb impact may not have led to total deflation if the tyre had subsequent time to 'recover' up to normal operating temperature, and it may have been possible to run with a slight reduction in pressure, even up to the normal, planned pit-stop. However, the fact that it was immediately required to cope with the significant G-force of the next left-hand corner (and that Vettel took this faster than all other drivers), exposed what may have been an already under-pressurised tyre (making it more 'sloppy') to even greater forces.

My guess is that is suffered a two-stage deflation, the first being relatively minor but nonetheless sufficient to make it more vulnerable to further loss.

 

I wonder whether Pirelli or RB will offer any view.
