Warren to KC- Scoles promoted. Looks a done deal as reported in the Mirror Lets Hope Warren can do the same for City as Ole Gunner Solskjaer did in Norway. I think we stand a good chance of holding on to our younger players with Warren in Charge , hoping he can get the best out of them. Also with them, being so hungry for success there heads wont be turned by the temptation of bigger clubs offering super deals , and become bench warmers. Nicky Barmby looks also to be part of the management. Wonder if Deano is oiling his chain on his chopper for a trip down the motorway!!!!!!!!!!! Whatever I wish them all well and look forward to the future , and as always in a positive manner. U T T
On the whole, I think appointing Warren is a positive statement of intent. On the one had its a gamble to appoint someone with limited experience, on the other hand would you really want one of those stale, proven failures on the existing management merry go round? I wouldn't. Everyone has to start somewhere (despite his previous I see this as a starting point for Warren) and risks needs to be taken. If he can convince the owners and board that he is the man for the job, that's enough for me to say give him the chance. Looking forward to Saturday and singing The Great Escape ad nauseum.
The more I think about this appointment, the better it gets. He has worked with the man utd starlets in our team (Dudgeon, Stewart, Chester, Evans and Brady) so on a potential match day there's 5 players that he knows incredibly well. They all know him well, took his advice to come here, therefore appointing Joyce has probably removed any temptation they may have had to move. Barmby has been working behind the scenes, so has that relationship with the players as well as a first class playing pedigree. He can be the motivational tool in the camp and 'pro' Hull, and someone for the younger players to look up to, particularly for players starting out on the international ladder. All good for me
All of the above points are fair enough and I agree it's a good appointment, especially for player retention... But what if he's a tactical disaster? Similarly we may be more effective than ever before so who knows! My point is it's not necessarily about how well you know your players, though it's a pretty weak argument to be honest as I think this is a really positive move
Immaterial now I think, of course it makes a difference knowing your players. As a clue Dowie didn't know his players, or anything about football as it transpires.
