A reality check, for the "massive" leeds fans....

Firstly, your ticket prices aren't much more expensive than ours. Secondly you miss my point, whther the owner is a twat or not, surely supporting your team comes first. It's not an excuse that you don't like the owner and you don't want to pay him.

 

Yeah we have a lot of floating fans (and people are refusing to financially endorse Bates), but we're still a massive club due to our 950k strong fanbase. We still have the same fans as we did 10 years ago, it's just that less people want to pay ridiculous prices to watch second division football. Those people aren't as committed or loyal as is possible, but the club's complete lack of marketing, enthusiasm and extroversion has pretty much helped to turn them away. In short, it's Ken Bates' fault.

If we charged reasonable prices like Derby or Newcastle and our club showed some ambition and pride, people would come flooding back. The 30k attendance for the Man U game is an obvious sign that people are boycotting since we had 38k there for Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool in the past few seasons. Simple really.

As long as we have our fanbase, we'll always be a massive club.

I never said we mean no harm but this is generally what happens because every other clubs fans are just as bad if not worse. Leeds come to town they have a go because of our reputation and when we react like you'd expect it reinforces that reputation. It's self reinforcing when at the end of the day we're no worse than any other fans.

I sincerely doubt it. Either way, in 05/06 we were in the Championship. Surely those fickle fans would have moved on when we dropped out of the premier league.
