It's like when you ask people why they're so pleased with Brexit ...

... the only answer is 'because'.

The challenge is like the last two days have shown that if we don’t bring more honesty, strong democratic values into politics it wil be exploited for the gain of power at whatever cost. If both sides had been more balanced and honest in the europe debate who knows where we’d have ended up but arguably the best marketed lies won and I’d add to that that 51v49 leading to the most extreme version isn’t a good argument for democracy either. Changing the democratic system - reducing the power of wealth, creating a point in voting for the best manifesto not against the one you hate most, stronger management of false stats, unachievable promises by the electoral commission all mean we’d feel like our voice was heard and it was worth respecting.

    I'll be totally honest.

I followed the debates and the arguments carefully at the beginning and considered the consequences of a vote either way. But it was crazy, people were actually arguing about fish quotas and the merits of the metric system.

By the end of it all I had absolutely no idea what was going on. My abiding memory is of Laura Kuenssberg, in a cabin on stilts, listening to bizarre arguments and fighting to be heard over loonies with megaphones shouting about one side or the other.

I've asked people, including friends and family, the main reason they voted to leave. The answer is almost invariably one of the slogans that were repeatedly shouted out ... 'taking control of our borders' 'ridding ourselves of faceless bureaucrats' 'freeing us to trade with the world' 'funding the NHS' etc.

When I ask what they think the main benefit is the same slogans are repeated almost without stopping to think whether or not any of these things are actually happening. This is despite MPs, sometimes PM's, vehemently switching sides from leave/remain and vice versa as it suited them.

I didn't really have a clue what Brexit was all about by the end of the campaign ...

... some people are absolutely certain, fanatically in some cases.

One thing is for certain. Those politicians fanatically campaigning for "Brexit" will see some sort of benefit from it. The rest of us won't.

If the general consensus is we should start getting back to Democratic values and individuals to be accountable, look no further than the British parliamentary election system, rather than the unelected faceless bureaucrats of the EU

Not worth wasting your breath. If it's not a hurrr-hurrr meme or a Guardian headline it won't compute.

Have to say it is disappointing to see Labour go back on a plan to offer free childcare between 9 months and 3 years. Phillipson was making some good suggestions on that front but it seems the fiscal situation is now in the way (probably better now than it was at the time oddly). Not very joined up thinking in my opinion as it keeps parents out of work, potentially.

I am beginning to think the penny has dropped and they have finally realised they cant lose the next election. Therefore they are managing our expectations as to what they can achieve. If that is the case I appreciate the honesty, they really do need to be honest in what they can achieve. I am fed up of manifestos that clearly cant be met, or leadership campaigns that are based on impossible claims. Just dont think this particular change is at all in our interest as a public.

Aye. But it’s not sorted. Are there not loads of trade deals to sort? Check out the ports at Dover etc? Northern Ireland?
    Is the U.K. in tact?
You are being very simplistic- do a bit reading from reputable sources - not the express, sun, mail which merely report on behalf of the billionaire tax non domes who own those publications to help keep conning people like you. For their benefit to maintain non domme tax status.
