Disappointing if unexpected about Mundle. Think we’ll be talking about him in a similar breath as Edwards and Madueke in a few years. Really hope Ange breaks the duck and sorts out the path from academy to first team because with Devine, Scarlett, Donley, Dorrington, Moore etc, we’ve got a really decent crop of young players at various levels who with the right development could make the first team squad in some capacity in time to come, will be a sickener if they go down similar routes to Madueke and Edwards where we’re getting pennies for future £30m+ calibre players. Saw Matt Law say we’d be open to including Winks in any deal for Maddison and/ or Barnes. Always thought Winks was Championship calibre but not sure he’d be agreeable to a move, I feel he thinks he’s better than he is and will want Prem or equivalent level league move.
Dorrington really looks a talent, could be a proper modern CB if he makes it. Also my new drum to bang is Ange making Harvey White into a top class inverted LB. Don’t think about it too much, it just makes sense.
Right now the one I’m most excited about of the youngest batch is probably Mikey Moore. I’m not exaggerating when I say it (I probably am ) but I get serious Foden vibes from him. Dorrington does look really good though and I agree about the modern CB vibes. Kyerematen is another I could’ve listed in the previous post, Irow too. There’s a bit of a golden crop coming through, especially after the 17s and 18s won the PL Cups, that’s always a good start for young player’s careers, could *potentially* be a better crop than the Kane batch, albeit I doubt any will reach Kane’s individual level. I do like White and the inverted LB ain’t a bad shout but I fear his development’s been too far delayed that we’ll just end up either selling him this window or sending him out on loan again.
No lenglet as things stand, Sanchez on the way out, potentially shifting Dier, too. could genuinely be seeing a proper defensive rebuild here. *signs Lenglet for €5m and dier gets new contract
Tears in my eyes, Roo. Long time coming. We might genuinely end up selling every senior CB bar Romero and I’m not even worried or concerned about that. GK rebuild in motion, Sessegnon also linked with a possible exit… *chef’s kiss*. If Ange does indeed do all that in his first window, he should have an “l” at the end of his name because he’ll feel like a Guardian Angel to us all.
The academy is a long-term project, and should transcend the era of any manager. A "hard reset" now may change things for the better, but the manager right now may not be the beneficiary of it. "Saw Matt Law say we’d be open to including Winks in any deal for Maddison and/ or Barnes. Always thought Winks was Championship calibre but not sure he’d be agreeable to a move, feel he thinks he’s better than he is and will want Prem or equivalent level league move." Winks is PL level, but just not at the level needed for Spurs to maintain/improve their PL position of the past decade.
Random report claiming Xavi is considering Lo Celso as a target. Xavi is one of the best midfielders to ever grace the game, known for amazing passing and vision, yet if he took Lo Celso off of our hands, that might just be the greatest assist of his career to date.
Odd, I don't have the Chucklehead Brothers in my notifications all of a sudden. I'm sure they stopped posting, though... Anyway, since today seems to mainly be about potential departures, here's another one
We’re losing nothing really. 4 years he’s been here now and he’s been arguably the worst of the 19/20 season signings, which takes some doing considering Ndombele’s fat and lazy and Sessegnon barely looks like a footballer. If he turns out great at Barca they just gain a good player, we definitely wouldn’t have lost one.
Lenglet Watch Why is this a thing? Tony Juanmarti claims we'll be meeting with Barca in the next few days to discuss a deal for Lenglet Again, this is the player whose name was very firmly placed at the top of our Retain/Release list just yesterday
But you know why that is. He was on loan with no buy clause so was always officially going to leave at the end of the month. I suspect we’re teeing him up as a backup because we know Barca need to sell players but I’d hope we have other options too. He’s technically the right profile but lacks a bit of the pace you’d want for first choice in a high line.
And now Sky’s Lyall Thomas says we’re looking at Tosin from Fulham as an option… These journos tryna piss us off today? We’re looking to shift average and **** defenders, not add them!
