From PMQs back in 2021.... “Somebody here isn’t telling the truth,” Starmer said, reminding Johnson that the Ministerial Code requires the resignation of any minister who knowingly misleads Parliament. “I’ll leave it there for now,” he mused, oozing menace. “There will be further on this, believe me.” How satisfying today is.
Boris Johnson may be back if a Starmer led government is a flop, which I predict because Starmer has no principles he wouldn't U turn on and his front bench lacks talent. Do I want to see Boris Johnson as PM again? No. He's not PM material. He doesn't do detail, isn't much interested in facts, can be cavalier with the truth and runs a disorganised ship. He'll go off and make millions now. Better he keeps doing that and doesn't return to Parliament.
Doubt he’s got any real interest in coming back other than to bring a few people down with him. As you say, for some reason he’s worth a lot of money to some people for his expertise and/or favours owed to him thanks to money he’s stolen from us. The bar is so low now that even if you’re right about Labour’s talent, we’re bound to see an improvement on the current rabble of nonces and thieves like Raab, Gove etc. Labour will be judged ultimately on what they do or don’t deliver. They’ll be crucified by much of the press and political ‘pundits’ anyway so they’ll need to deliver plenty to get any credit. Hopefully they’ll turn around at least some of the decline in living standards suffered by our poorest over the last 13 years.
The only shadow minister I see as possibly having potential is Streeting. If he can put the NHS inti intensive care and turn it round, that would be a big achievement. But it needs major reform, not just sinking more money in. I'd think"free at the point of use" has to go. Even liberal Ireland charges patients for doctors appointments. It would cut down "no shows" and major ops could be means tested.
I wouldn’t be averse to some sort of deposit you lose for a no show but Stainsey will call me a Tory now
