It's because he though he could get away with it, madness for them to take the risk when you think about it.

My workplace was very strict during the lockdowns even though we were all classed as essential workers due to the companies we provide IT support and services to.

I spend all day laughing at shallow people who think that if you're not screaming about Tories, you're 'friends' with them.

    Liberals would be pretty good.

We don't have any in this country though.

Voting for him is fair enough imo.

What I find strange is how fanatical some still are in his defence even though he's now clearly a cheat, a liar and, despite all the claims, not in the least bit charismatic or funny.

I was at SJP when Adam Johnson ruined Christmas for the Mags ...

... but lost all respect for him once it was clear he'd lied and cheated.

As people like the other Johnson's 'Brexit' I'll always remember that goal but wouldn't shake Adam's hand if he offered it.

Those trying to defend Boris are weird and finding increasingly weird ways to defend him.

All of our lives are governed by "rules", whether they be moral, legal or otherwise. You can go back as far as the ten commandments. If, like Johnson, nobody abided by them we would have anarchy. The fact that 99% of us abided by the Covid restrictions probably saved thousands from an early death because we realised it was for the greater good. But for the person who was a figurehead for those self same rules regard them as beneath him and to ignore them completely is shameful. To make things even worse for that self same person to then lie over and over again to deny it is actually incredible. Good riddance. Politics has been cleansed of a man who brought shame on it.

Laughing at people you deem are less worthy than you. That nails why some aren’t keen

When I say voted for him, many knew he was a liar in his own party but they made him leader. They elected him as their role model.

You can't really blame the Tory party for wanting a leader who'd attract votes but they thought they could control him.

    Sadly, he's useless in power.

Laughing at people who've proven they're less worthy with their halfwit hot takes.

Thankfully I'm not in constant need of validation, unlike some.

Braverman says, today, that 'it's impossible to clear the asylum backlog' because 'the boats keep coming' despite Sunak's claim that incomer numbers are plummeting ...

... and, on the same day, a solution has been found, yippee. Simply allow them to leave their accommodation and give them free bus passes <laugh>

"Asylum seekers who will be housed on a migrant barge in a south coast harbour will be 'free to come and go as they want', the Home Office has confirmed.

A free bus service will be laid on daily to transport around 500 migrants from the Bibby Stockholm in and out of Portland Port in Dorset.

Once they have left the port they will be free to roam around Weymouth, Portland and beyond. They will also have access to local services, including a GP."

I actually feel happy about that the way they’ve been going on, but point taken. It’s an idiotic expensive attention seeking gesture

    Oh, that's what you meant.

Not really. I mean, my ego isn't big enough to be so certain I'm right that I get offended and angry and all ignorey on the internet by seeing a different opinion to my own. I'd guess that makes my ego smaller than other regular 'contributors'.

This boat sinking in the med today has made me feel sick. We will never know how many died. Women and bairns below deck, no chance. If you have seen the picture of that boat it has to make you despair surely. 500 on it, dear me. Since 2014 27,000 people have died trying to get to Europe. Figure likely higher as how many boats sink we dont even know about? Todays boat is in such deep water it probably cant be recovered.

Our politicians talk endlessly it seems about stopping boats. It has almost become a competition as to which party will be able to stop more. What does that even mean? Make them turn round and go back? Never depart in the first place? As we see today, these poor sods are coming in boats not fit for purpose, so stopping them means them never leaving in the first place or you are just condeming them to more time at sea on a crap boat.

There was a great article in The Economist last week about the 'rich countries' approach to migration. The US, Europe, Australia all have been seen to make immigration difficult. I think we have let it become seen as a major negative personally and politicians therefore think they will win votes if they are tough on it. That is probably the reality. There are some very positive things about immigration, economic and social, but those seem lost in the noise.

Surely the challenge isnt stopping the boats. It is working globally, to solve the crisis together. I dont know what the answer is, but I dont want politicians keep banging on about stopping boats, it is bloody inhumane. According to one article I read the Greek immigration minister said they would examine the claims of the survivors and send them home if they did not qualify! Not even 24 hours and that is the stance on those devasted people. Is this really a world we want to live in. Like I said, makes me feel sick.

I know I am probably naieve, and I know I am probably a fantasist. But surely there is a better approach, and narrative, than the one we have across the world right now.

Good read, and l believe your right about the International community working together.
I see the EU are looking at Rwanda as a solution for them.
TBH it's an unsolvable issue without cooperation.

If I have it right, your contention is that it's acceptable, more or less, for Polticians to lie to The Public.
But they have to tell the truth when addressing The House.

I cann't say I am fond of that as a definition, but I am unable to argue against your point.
