Everton's case for their alleged breach of the Premier League's financial fair play rules will reportedly take place on October 25, with the Toffees said to be facing legal action from Leeds United and three other teams. Everton were referred to an independent commission in March over their spending from the 2021-22 campaign, in which Leeds escaped relegation on the final day and Burnley were relegated. The Guardian claims that the Clarets, along with this season's relegated trio of Leeds, Leicester City and Southampton are readying legal action which could run into 'tens of millions of pounds' should the Toffees lose their case. Premier League rules state that clubs are permitted to lose a maximum of £105m over three years, with the Toffees recording a £371.8million during this timeframe. That meant that at the end of the 2021-22 Leeds and Burnley met with the Premier League to question whether Everton had indeed breached the rules, with the situation being revisited earlier this year amid with the Toffees again in the relegation scrap. Punishments for breaking these rules can take the form of a fine or points deduction, with the Guardian report claiming that the quartet are looking for compensation claims at a separate tribunal, with relegation said to have cost each club around £100million. This comes after it emerged earlier this week that former Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is suing the club in a case relating to 'general commercial contracts and arrangements', while the Toffees also saw a boardroom shakeup on Monday with chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale, chief finance and strategy officer Grant Ingles and non-executive director Graeme Sharp all leaving their roles amid an ongoing takeover saga.
Would someone tell me how on earth is the club expected to ensure this does not happen I’ve said before the FA is not fit for purpose
Once again the owners thought candidates would be beating down the door for the job and it hasn't happened.
Morning all Let's put this out there. The 49ers don't know how to run a proper football club. The fact they've had to hire a consultant just says it all. The 500 investors in this club just shows that all they want I s money.. £10 says they won't give a **** about the club a la Glazers or Kronke or those ones at Liverpool. This will end badly mark my words
Have to disagree. The 49ers are using rather cleverly using American sports stars to raise the profile of LUFC in the so far untapped market over there. Now you may think so what but the potential for growth is huge because sports play such a massive part of their society which means there are literally millions of new fans up for grabs, however they need something or someone to grab their attention. If you're still not convinced then think how much the overseas PL broadcast rights have increased over the last decade and how with streaming everything might change in the future, especially as that change now seems almost inevitable.
Afternoon all, The separate reactions to today's announcement really sums up the difference in Leeds twitter and Leeds Facebook. Leeds twitter see it as a good move and the owners are being praised for being professional and making a good decision. Leeds Facebook have decided the owners don't know what they are doing, they are chancers and this shows they have no idea. Both sides are certain they are right
Sad to hear this - he was part of the great team I supported in the 70's. Former Scotland, Manchester United and Leeds United defender Gordon McQueen has died at the age of 70. McQueen was diagnosed with cancer in 2011 and dementia in 2021. Starting his career with St Mirren, McQueen was sold to Leeds and would go on to help win the English league title in 1974, the FA Cup with Manchester Utd in 1983 and play 30 times for Scotland.
Another ex lufc player has gone at a youngish age Gordon McQueen has passed at the age of 70, what an excellent centre half he was with a tough streak who didn't take no prisoners in an extremely talented side...one of a clutch of great Scots who we have had the services of remember him chinning David Harvey in a match fellow Scotsman or not .... enjoyed many a match back in the day Gordon you never gave less than your all...R.I.P. big man
I have to be honest , I never forgave him for punching Harvey. I think he was trying to force a move to scum to follow his mate Jordan. A very good player for us though.
Those Wrexham boys are just playing at it though and our bad ass 49er guys will blow them out of the water. Hopefully we'll see their influence right from the off with Bud Lite and Wieners front and centre on opening day. Maybe even some cheerleaders as well to get the atmosphere crackling.
