Good Morning. It's Thursday 15th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds don't consider Potter a realistic target Chief football writer for the YEP Graham Smyth has expressed his concern that Leeds consider the likes of Rodgers and Potter as being out of their reach. Speaking candidly on his weekly Q and A session, Smyth insisted that whilst dropping to the Championship shouldn't deter every good Manager, it has made the club more cautious. "The odds movement [Potter] is worth noting but I’m told it’s a similar situation to the Rodgers case. He’s a manager Leeds like, they would have considered him but they don’t consider him a realistic target. The drop to the Championship shouldn’t deter every good manager." "If this summer is done right then Leeds should be in with a decent chance of an immediate return, but I think in one or two cases relegation has put them off. The question for managers of a certain calibre is perhaps ‘what if it goes wrong?’ Where next, if you get canned by a Championship club midway through a season or if you fail to get them straight back up? please log in to view this image Pep's No 2 tipped to take Foxes gig Manchester City Assistant Manager Enzo Maresca is on his way to the King Power Stadium if betting patterns are anything to go by! The former Italian U21 Midfielder started his Managerial career with the Manchester City's EDS (Elite Development Squad). After winning the Premier League 2 title, he was taken on by recently relegated Parma, but failed miserably (12th) even with the likes of Gianluigi Buffon and Franco Vázquez. He was obviously relieved of his duties, and made his way back to the blue side of Manchester last Summer, where he became Pep Guardiola's assistant. Overnight, Maresca's odds have dropped to 8/15, with some bookies even refusing the bet. This will be good news for Leeds fans, desperate for the services of Graham Potter. The former Seagull's boss looked destined to take the Leicester role, but overnight, his odds have plummeted to 20/1. please log in to view this image Farke still hot favourite for ER hot seat Despite Leicester City being on the brink of appointing Enzo Maresca, the bookies have widened the odds on Graham Potter joining Leeds. In the last 24 hours, his odds have changed from 2/1 to 6/1 with Daniel Farke still way out in the lead at evens. Whilst Farke wouldn't be the worst appointment in the World, it doesn't say much about Leeds Utd's ambition about a quick return back to the top flight! please log in to view this image US Ryder Cup stars part of 49ers consortium Former World No 4, and 2012 PGA tour winner Rickie Fowler has revealed he, along with US Ryder Cup team-mates Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas are part of the 49ers Enterprises consortium, soon to take control of Leeds Utd. The news comes days after revealing that NBA stars Larry Nance Jr (Orleans Pelicans forward) and Indiana Pacers guard T.J. McConnell were also part of the 60 strong conglomerate. According to Fowler:- “There is the group that’s moving forward with being involved with Leeds. Myself, JT (Justin Thomas) and Jordan (Spieth) potentially will be a part of it." “It’s cool to have those opportunities. I know we are looking into it. It will be fun if we get to be a part of it. “Obviously they got relegated, but to be able to go to a Premier League game, Champions League. I feel like, obviously you call it football over there, we call it soccer here, it’s a massive sport. “I feel like it’s continuing to get bigger in the States, but still since I haven’t been to a game I don’t have the true appreciation until I’ve actually been able to go and be there and feel that energy.” please log in to view this image
Good morning all I would love to know if we have even approached Potter (bet we haven't) i personally think he would relish a championship challenge, and why not he's done it before and with a lesser club (at the time). however i feel as though i am flogging a dead horse if the attached report is anything to go by https://motleedsnews.com/news/leeds-united-manager-news-as-graham-potter-update-emerges/
It would apear on the face of it we are down to a shortlist of three, Corboran, Farke, Parker none of which excites me, i have a feeling already it could be a long cold season ahead.
Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato claim AC Milan and Fiorentina have both inquired over Willy Gnonto's services. It's been suggested 49ers Enteprises want £18m, which both clubs feel is excessive!
Morning all. Here is some news. Not sure what I think of it.. https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/31566/nick-hammond-appointed-interim-football-advisor
So this is the big news. On the one hand he oversaw a productive transfer window when doing a similar job at Newcastle. On the other, he had a manager in place with a known style of football and most likely pre identified targets. We don’t. So what/who will he be buying for?
Maybe he will also have some say in which manager we get in as well, so that he can concentrate on getting the correct players for them in unison? Now ive had some time to digest this, I think that this is a sensible approach from the 49ers. instead of rushing it through, get someone in who can oversee this for now and has sucess and experiencing in doing so in the past.
Good Morning I have a mixed bag of feelings regarding the appointment of Hammond, if there is a shortage of suitable candidates this could be the best option. They also mention January transfer targets, does this mean we are going to be quiet on the incomings and rely on who we already have, if we are going to be bringing players in, what direction are we taking, the coaches we keep getting linked with all have different styles. My guess is that Hammond will oversee the outgoings first and when we get a new coach he'll sit down with him and discuss targets and areas that need filling. Graham Smyth is passing an opinion like we all do on here, take it with a pinch of salt. The board have probably approached both Potter and Rodgers and been knocked back, it might have been a simple we'd like to invite you for a chat and both said no way it isn't happening and it was approached and ended all in 2 minutes Back to the DoF isn't Webber working off his notice at Norwich and having Hammond in place now means we can have someone dealing with all these outgoing rumours which is mainly agent dribble
I know nothing about Hammond so havejust done extensive 5 minute research. He’s gone from long time sporting director at Reading to now being something of a trouble shooting consultant. Fairly underwhelming in his time at Celtic and apparently used as an advisor by Newcastle for their Jan transfer plans. But not retained beyond that. But very experienced in the English game and available. Suspect those are his key attributes. He’s also an ex-keeper. Maybe he still has his gloves?
Leeds United have been charged with misconduct by the Football Association over a crowd control incident during their Premier League draw with Brighton on March 11. “It’s alleged that the club failed to ensure its spectators and/or supporters - and anyone purporting to be its supporters or followers - conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 20th minute and do not use words or behaviour that are improper, offensive, abusive, indecent, or insulting with reference to sexual orientation." “Leeds United FC has until Wednesday 21 June to provide a response.”
Even if Everton were relegated because of breaking financial fair play rules it wouldn’t save us as we’d have had to finish third from bottom and we couldn’t even manage that ffs
