I will have seen little bits of Kone when , occasionally , watching the BL highlights on Sky but tbh nothing that registered . I have never seen a Ligue 1 game in my life <laugh>

From bits and pieces that I've read, our fans seem more convinced by Kone, stating that while both he and Thuram are raw, Kone seems ahead in his development. It also hasn't gone unnoticed however, that Thuram has great genes.

I haven't seen either play so I wouldn't even be able to pick either of them out in a lineup either. Same goes for Veiga, Gvardiol and Szoboszlai. I'm trusting those in charge to know who's the right fit for us.

I'm sure there will be a lot of twists and turns but maximum value is the prime requirement rather than perfect fit.

there's not too.many vvds and alisson'swe can just buy

I visited Kone island when I was in New York earlier in the week.

I don't watch many games outside our own.

Thuram: No.

Some of my mates are Gladbach fans (it's near here) and they rate Kone. The couple of times I've seen him he's looked fairly decent. Not world class or anything, but in the hope that the club knows more about him than I do I can see why we're interested. Got an engine on him, breaks play up, can bring the ball forward and lay it off. Not one for a mazy dribble or a defence splitting pass from what I've seen.

If we think of our 'industrial' midfield from a few years back, none of them were standout players, just pure workhorses surrounded by quality defenders and attacker's.

Reading reports, reviewing stats and a few compilations - Thuram looks like the real deal and someone we can mould into whatever we want. He has the physical attributes to be a 6 and the technical ability to play as the attacking 8. His dribbling is exceptional and he can really be someone who carries the ball upfield for us with his dribbling, whereas Trent and Thiago can build up play through their passing.

Kone is more limited but has a ridiculous engine. He could be that peak Hendo player who is defensively disciplined, chase and press everything and provide cover for Trent / Mo. In addition, he could play as a 6 as well and be moulded into that position long term. Depends on what we want from the RCM.

Two versatile players with a lot of upside and on a 'budget'. Would give us much needed physicality.

I never heard of either of them until we were linked. Did watch Khephren's dad play of course.

I'm encouraged by what I've read about them as players and trust Klopp and LFC's judgement. Though I've got a feeling that Kone is just convenient paper talk loosely based off of us hiring Schmadtke.

Agreed,Thuram is the more likely..........got to be some news soon

In the end folks this boils down very simply

LFC preseason return dates:
Non-internationals: July 8
Internationals: July 11

If theres not 3 players in (1 so far) by July 11th then the club has let everyone down badly.

Klopp wants then in for full preseason. End of.

If they are not in by then (macallister is) then the club has let klopp down and by extension let us all down.

There is no oh we got them on deadline day bullshit here. We are either getting ready for a big season or we are ****ing about.

Not sure real life is quite that simple unless you buy players no one wants

well, its pretty clear the team is "in need" rather than adding one guy we can take 6 months to nurse in as we perform on the pitch.

We all know klopp's needs and if the player is thuram then it's thuram and go do a deal. If they think thet y will save 20mil on deadline day thats one thing but we are talking minor difference at this point if you negotiate properly with a genuine club.

The club has ****ed it more than 12 months ago, they continued to **** it last january and now they are sat here out of the CL as a result and need to do the surgery.

The absolute very best way to destroy the club is to **** this window hunting a little value, missing all the preseason and struggling form the start AGAIN.

Its really that simple. They know what they want to do, they have there 4 or 5 targets to choose from and if a club wants to do a deal they will.
