    "Pork barrel" politics is over...

Rishi Sunak scraps second round of Boris Johnson's flagship towns fund
    By Alexandra Rogers, political reporter

Rishi Sunak has cancelled plans to hold a second round of Boris Johnson's £3.6bn towns fund in a move that could anger Tory MPs.

Sky News can reveal that the £300m set aside for a further competition will instead be transferred to the levelling up fund, which has been criticised for slow delivery.

The towns fund was first announced by Boris Johnson in July 2019 and initially supported the development of 100 locations, including former Labour heartlands that turned Conservative for the first time at the last general election.

The fund quickly attracted criticism of "pork barrel" politics after analyses found that the vast majority of places benefitting from the cash were held by Tory MPs.

At least he is trying to do the right thing, hopefully the money goes where it’s needed and not just to Tory held areas.

Aye I agree he is a massive part of the problem but he is undoing some of the ridiculous things that were put in place by his predecessor.

I’ve not changed my tune on him but credit where it’s due and it’s a good thing he’s scraped it.

By that rationale, would you count invading a sovereign country on a false premise to be evil?

    How?
Did Starmer and Raynor do this?
    No - you're deflecting again.
You seem a tad unhinged and desperate to play the all the same card which they clearly aren't- see the kids school meals vote etc.

If we're only judging parties on their current leadership incumbents, presumably everything pre-Sunak doesn't count, yes? I'll even give you Truss as well. Please, take her.

I'm keen to apply the same logic to both sides, yes.

Ah there we have it - it’s johnson you are desperate to give a free pass to - could you say why, taking regard to the pincher situation which finished him?

Nothing to do with Johnson, other than the usual boogeyman obsession with him. It's the logic by which you categorise one side as bad and the other good. How many PMs for each party do you want to go back?

These are your rules, not mine. I take each leader based upon what they do. You're the one trying to justify one lot being evil and not the other but the same rules don't seem to apply to each side.

The blame for the last thirteen years of going backwards has gone from a 'weak opposition' to the previous Labour government and now Boris has gone it's kangaroo courts, civil service activists, witch hunts and biased labour committees ...

... ignoring the fact that it was his own cabinet and MPs who kicked him out.

Never mind, he can always become a scriptwriter for Trump or sell his used underwear to his fan club.

Everything to do with him. One of the 3 PMs since the last election- it’s absurd you want to go back 3 decades yet absolve Johnson from any judgement - you do realise (if you could stop, read, think, absorb) how utterly stupid this seems?

I'm not trying to absolve anyone of blame. I'm putting accountability where it lies.

If the Tories are evil now because of what happened on a previous PM's watch, then it follows that the actions of Labour PMs should be judged in the same manner. Otherwise you're applying bias.

    Stop, read, think, absorb.

You are not a tiny fraction as clever as you think you are - you answer nothing here by attempting to cherry pick certain PMs actions from history and attaching that to the current.leadership-absolutely crazy logic, while attempting to absurdly go back only a year and 2 PMs in this government despite them being in power 13 years. You are showing serious bias and making your own rules up to fit your skewed bias.

Also Their voting history dictates if they should be considered evil or otherwise for me.
