Nah, **** the **** off. (not you, the club) We shouldn't even be discussing it with them. A firm no straight up.
If he was kicking up a real fuss and being a proper twat (not training etc) then yeah, you kind of have to sell. But no way would Tella do that, think he has already said he will give his all wherever he ends up. We spent £23m on Sulemana and £18m on Onuachu - I doubt for a second either of those players will have the season Tella had last year.
He played over 40 games this season, so it doesn't seem at all like his engine has gone. He was also one of England's better players at the World Cup just 6 months ago. But fair, JWP has a few extra years in him. The thing is Prowsie just isn't good enough for where Liverpool want to be; fighting for the title and winning silverware. I just can't see JWP being a starter up there. Fourth choice CM maybe at best.
He probably has a higher ceiling but for me it comes down to proven vs unproven. Neither did much in the premier league but we know for a fact Tella is brilliant in the Championship. Sulemana is an unknown, not his fault but thats the way it is. I wouldn't risk being able to find a £20m player as good as Tella when we can just keep him and know what we are getting.
Tella is gone. Playing for Kompany in the PL with a promoted club that will be buzzing or a depleted saints side with no guarantee of going straight back up. Tough call that one !
Sulemana is the better player IMO. I've watched both play and that's my opinion. Also, Martin and Kompany have totally different tactics - there's absolutely no guarantee Tella would be just as good as last season if he's still at Saints next season.
This is a good point - Tella was great in the Championship, playing for Kompany and Burnley. Whether or not that translates to us is not a definite. I'd personally rather keep both, but if I had to choose I'd keep Sulemana. (Not that I'd imagine this is an either/or situation).
The question is how good would any of our current players look playing for a team walking their respective league. We loaned Tella out as we thought we had better options who would’ve been ahead of him for playing time, would any of them have done as well for Burnley this season if it was them who had gone on loan? Obviously an impossible question to answer
Of course Chelsea will pay 50m. This is just a lame attempt at getting us to lower the price. Ain't gonna work. They are desperate to get him and everyone knows it.
Didn’t they supposedly offer us £55m at the end of last summer after just a few appearances for us in the PL?
Said it multiple times before but because of the clauses City have on him, any less than £50m for Lavia and the transfer doesn't make economic sense, we might as well wait for City to come back for him later on.
