Really? That’s a bit aggressive Jambo. I presume you mean you’d like to give him a jolly good piece of your mind. Not sure what the problem is with him.... don’t have a strong opinion either way. Whereas I've always found Rodgers too self satisfied for my liking. Maybe we need an end of season poll. The 2023 Most Punchable Manager in Football. Winner gets the Frank Lampard Trophy.
That’ll do. It is what it is. They worked well together previously so at least they can hit the ground running. In theory
The thing is who will they be able to get their hands on. Can't do what Blackwell did and sign any old crap just to build a squad.
Don’t know but they’ve managed it twice before. Think we have to accept a “top proven” coach doesn’t want to drop to the championship. Limits who we can get but at least they have a record of promotion.
Yes they have but I'm guessing there was a squad there when Farke joined and they needed to make a few acquisitions instead of having to build a whole squad especially a midfield and forward line as well as bringing in 2 new keepers. I also don't think that we can count on James staying as I think someone in the Wales camp is whispering in his ear telling him to get a move back to the Prem.
Thing is, the Norwich Statement says Webber told the owners at the turn of the year. If it is us, that strongly suggests Orta was definitely going at the end of the season so, did we sack him and pay compensation? Would seem a bit dumb to me because I don't think Webber and Farke would have been what the owners had in mind at that stage if they believed we were staying up. On Farke, apart from that annoying voice, he did really well with Norwich overall...... however, if I remember correctly, we turned them over something like 3-0 at their place just after the changing rooms were painted pink in Bielsa's first year (September / October time). We were flying and they were lower mid table and not clicking. Then they went on that amazing run (seeming to score in the last minute of every game) and ended up winning the league pretty comfortably. Now, if that had happened at Leeds would the board and the natives have backed him like Norwich did?? If it is him (and I am pretty ambivalent tbh) let's hope he gets off to a flying start because it could turn ugly pretty quickly if we struggle.
Apparently Tyler Adams has told the club that he wants to play in the premier league ne T season. So ignoring Germa, Italian and Spanish clubs, we have Forest, Villa, Newcastle, Man Utd, WHU and Liverpool all asking about him. He also has a £30m release clause so hopefully a bit of a bidding war……..
Farke has had chances at the top level of football, he is not up to it. You never sack a promotion winning coach, so it’s okay us saying as long as he gets us promoted, but are we creating a Bielsa situation all over again. I’d prefer to take a chance with an up and coming coach who can progress and improve along with the squad. Someone like a Corberan. I’ll support Farke, I’ll expect promotion but I’ll be hugely underwhelmed if he joins. When Bielsa first took charge, we expected nothing and we were amazed at the change we witnessed in our “average” players. I’m sure most of us expect an immediate return, the pressure will be on the new man and with divided opinions on Farke, he better hit the ground running
Faarke joined Norwich in May 2017, by the time the season started, Norwich had signed 18 players (including those on loan), 12 of those players played at least 10 games in the championship that season. Season before, Norwich had 22 players that played at least 10 games in the Championship, by the end of Faarke's first season in charge, only 7 of those managed to play in 10 games or more. 12 players had been sold or released ( a 13th player was sold in the January transfer window in 2018) and 13 players were sent out on loan (some of the loanees were young players who hadn't featured the previous season as well) Only showing players who made either 10 appearances or more the first season Faarke was in charge and any appearances for Norwich the previous season Should also say its not an appointment that excites me, I'd rather try and plan for the future than just appoint someone to gain promotion, but has not been able to progress from there, but just wanted to at least clarify that there was a lot of squad rebuilding that took place at Norwich once Faarke joined. Just for comparison purposes. we had 21 players than made at least 10 appearances last season. Whilst we may not prefer or even want, I dont think its beyond possibility that at least 7 of those could make 10 or more appearances for us next season as well, so it would be a similar rebuilding job as what Faarke had at Norwich. For Faarke's second season in charge ( in which they gained promotion to the EPL) they signed 8 players (including loans) and sold 4, released 2 and loaned out 12
Adams is not top notch but looked good playing for us. I want more midfielders who produce a bit more and not just tackle. 30 million would help fund a substantial rebuild of our pathetic squad. Plenty more dosh to come for gnonto and summerville and koch. Waiting to see what rodrigo does but head says he's gone.
I think the prob with release clauses is that the bidding war is about player wages and signing on fees. If the release is 30m we don’t get to decide to sell him to a club that bids 40m. They all bud the release figure and haggle with the players agent. Haaland is a good recent example.
