I see the Watford Observer has waded in on the Deeney comments . https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...rd-captain-deeneys-amazing-youtube-interview/ Troy probably loves all the attention and controversy! Be like water off a ducks back to him . Had he said it about the current squad some might have approved !
# 4: That third goal celebration was something else. I was towards the very rear of the Rookery (The Rookery End Rockers, long hair, denims and leathers, as we were - skinheads in front of us; casuals in front of them; all seemed to be dependent on music fashion) when the third went in, my memory tells me that me feet didn't touch the ground until I ended up about two crush barriers from the front. Scenes! Limbs!! Not entirely sure how I managed to stay upright - If I had gone down that would have been naughty. Took me a while to find my pals after... #1 too young, only just. Was being taken to the reserves by then and sitting on Dad's knee! #2 ditto. for that sort of thing, alas. First big gig was a few years later. #3 yup was there, and as an overall performance I guess it ought to pip Kaiserslautern. #5 was there for that one too, sensational performance #6 and #7 neither really do it for me, alas. #8 well documented, that one. Irritating. #9 The ultimate couple of minutes or so of football. Everything. #10 Had to content myself with watching it in the local. Landlord supports Liverpool. Satisfying for the three of us Horn's against the 20+ reds!
I'm not going to put too much stock into his bravado. All a bit daft, really. Life's too short to worry about it.
156 minutes of Troy flexing his cojones? No thanks - I've got 3 baskets of ironing I could be doing...
That's the one I finally decided on - with a whispered "Sorry Barry..." I'm sure he wouldn't mind though.
Very true - i doubt he meant it tbh. Wouldn't get away with it surely at the time? Unless Troy literally had all the power. It is rather sad though really - Deeney is another legend who will probably now be unliked by the fans or clubs. On a more positive note regarding the list - for the moment has to be Deeney v Leicester and that Liverpool match as a game overall. Mind you wasn't around for some of the early ones and too young to remember the Gary Porter v Bolton hat trick. Goodness knows what the social media and crowd reaction would have been like then!
Some Academy contract offers and some Academy departures... https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...-roberts-coyne-offered-new-watford-contracts/
What a strange tweet to conclude fans must be being racist if they are criticising Troy for his comments? Not seen anything posted that could be viewed as racism at all . (Have to say last season we did encounter a quiet “mature” gentleman who did seem to suggest he was glad there weren’t so many black players in the team but clearly a very small minority would think like that!)
Apart from his own "over the counter whites" jibe? Seems to me that he's a self-styled 'media personality' who has realised that he isn't as popular as he thought he was - and is simply courting controversy in an attempt to raise his profile. And is probably failing.
Am not sure whether to shout this one from the rooftops or not - he does appear to have had a long career in the lower leagues, but his goal return for Toulouse was quite impressive - 39 goals in 69 appearances.
If Ben Foster had said similar things he would have got pelted too, although I do think lots of the reaction is a bit over the top.
Tbh there were other aspects which could be seen as more unsavoury - threatened a manager to his face for example. But he probably didn’t mean most of what was said or never actually going to carry out such threats.
All turning into a bit of a mess regarding tomorrow. Now the podcasters have pulled out and there is no audio recording !
I have to say he has tarnished his Watford Hero Status because of his comments which is a shame, because he was probably the only Watford player to get close to matching Luthers Legacy Could you ever see Luther making those sorts of comments, no me neither, because he was/is a gentleman who was MAN enough to rise above the problems he faced during his playing career
Watford have signed Toulouse striker Rhys Healey upon expiry of his contract. (Not confirmed as yet.) "MANGA YOU BEAUTYYYYY" "Incredible signing that." "AUTOS HERE WE COME!!" Just three comments from people who have probably never seen him play. This type of talk is bonkers. League 2 in France is not Championship standard, so if he can be fully fit again, he may find the higher standard difficult.
