Eubank jr make his debut tonight on the Fury vs Pajkic undercard on channel 5 tonight. Heard a lot of good things about the kid. George Groves, who he has been sparring with rates him and he has spent a few years out in America training with some top trainers including Floyd Mayweather snr.
He looks a decent boxer - the only thing that concerned me was his surprised look when his opponent threw a punch back! He needs to ditch his Dad from the fights as he's nothing short of shameful. Chris Snr needs to realise it's not his show anymore and let his son write his own legacy.
Yeah he looked decent and did well, but I feel it could be some time till he faces a decent test. Maybe a year or two of gimmes.
Of course you're right, I simply don't understand what a young boxer can hope to learn from such poor opposition. Christ, I could have beaten that walking tomato can that he fought. How many punches did he actually throw?
Will learn probably more in sparring, but he will make mistakes best to make them against opposition that can't take advantage of them. Think that guy had no intention in throwing much just wanted to defend and survive. Although a decent prospect maybe not worth following his fights for a couple years if you like competative fights.
The promoters will always 'pad' the records of their fighters so i'm not expecting miracles - I just like to see an opponent at least have a go and be 'game' for a fight, even if they stand little to no chance of winning. Some of the pointless bouts that go on are a simple waste of time. I've sat through some real ****e - even from my favourite boxers like David Price & James DeGale, (although the Price ones rarely went further than a round!), and it just bores me, frankly.
The boy looks fairly polished already (going forward) so I don't know what facing limited opposition is going to prove for him but that guy had a decent defence and the boy had to get round it somehow. That fight was much more difficult a test than they could have made it.
