Go for it mate I used to love running did great North run a few times but tough murder looks far more fun.
Yeah it’s a pretty mixed ability group so just have to keep up with the slowest person. It’ll be fine but just hate running. Good to have goals though.
Well I won't be using that gym long! Far too busy to do anything constructive and full of idiots doing supersets in groups on top of that. 0 rating post workout
Didn't realise we had an exercise thread... I'm far from super fit (drink too much and eat too much BBQ to be really), but do enjoy my mountain biking (cross country, pretty long distance - **** roads. I'll ride 10 mile further just to stay on trails / moor /bridleways). I'd still play golf regularly (was off 6 a few years back), and play squash if I had some spare time, but 2 kids (3 and 9) sort of put paid to that for now. I'm 40. Gyms bore the **** out of me, and I'm not disciplined enough to diet to support my exercise due to beer and BBQ which I enjoy greatly. Weigh about 12st 6 at present. Fighting weight is about 11st 10 ish - could be lighter and faster, but don't want to be a rake. Could easily get there with a bit of a point in the right direction. Could do with toning up a bit around me kite and tits, but am by no means fat. Supplementary exercise is 20 press ups each morning. 80km Yorkshire MTB Marathon on Sunday - not in as good shape for it as last year, but looking to try and beat last year's 5hr 08min. https://www.yorkshiremountainbikemarathon.co.uk/enter
You should start golf and squash again, at least then it's not just me! Although my squash has fallen by the wayside again. Still more or less golf obsessed though.
Gyms have become far too popular now.... it's now the 'IN' thing to do and they're full of people parading themselves around in OTT gym outfits . I've done it for over a decade barring a few gaps over that time and Today I actually hated every minute of it.... too busy and I think I've reached a point where extra strength or looking good has become as irrelevant as it actually is and should be in my mind I'll be there tomorrow but yeah I think I've finally decided Golf seems more appealing I the evidence of what I see in Gyms today.
Depends on the gym. In Bwood I use a Puregym and it’s full of ****s. In Brighton I’ve found one that’s part of a small chain which is somewhere between being a bodybuilding place and a commercial gym and people just get on with their training and get out. A few wannabe Insta models but fewer than most places. More minge at the Puregym though.
Spot on I moved recently and the only gym close is a pure gym.. loved my last local gym..Fairly quiet and nice and tidy. I think I found a gay gym ... there was about 50 blokes and one lass with more tatoos than me.
If there’s cum on the floor by the squat racks then you’ll know. Yeah people respect the stuff at this one. The weights aren’t all over the floor and in the right part of the rack and stuff.
I also get annoyed with people fannying around...get some weights on the ****ing bar, blast out 3-5 sets and get the **** onto the next station.
****s me off when you ask to alternate with someone and they say no and then sit on their phone for three minutes between sets. If you’re lifting heavy you need a good two minutes between sets at least so there’s plenty of time to let someone else work in with you. I think my conclusion is I hate people.
I still get a knock at golf from time to time, but I'd maybe say 4 or 5 times a year for the last few years. Prior to that I'd played at least once a week for about 12 years. Love being back on the course. Once I'd finished playing footy, golf was it for me, but time constraints with kids have bitten! Played on the off chance a couple of Fridays ago and knocked it round to 12, so was still able to take a couple of skins. Won at cards after too
Absolutely and Today people are worse than ever. People ****ing around Today in groups doing strange nonsensical supersets like pistol squats and bench press?
I'm not cut out for that level of exertion in that kind of heat. Couldn't cool down, couldn't get heart rate down, had force myself to keep eating despite feeling sick as a dog. The two hardest climbs were also up chalk tracks, so the sun was reflecting off them making you even hotter, and there was no breeze on almost any section with a decent climb I'll be there again same time next year. Hopefully a bit lighter and fitter.
Hit 50s on the incline bench dumbbells which I hadn’t done before. 7 reps so will push for a full set next time.
