Couldn`t have put it better myself. There`s a bit of a saga going on over how £600k of SNP funds was spent.. How big a deal is it ? As someone on this board would say, I`ll eat my head if any of this sticks to Sturgeon. (famous last words!)
AS The reason I am surprised by this arrest is that the reports I was reading and listening to last month were highly suggestive that the police investigation was largely involved with dealing with issues such as the SNP's Amazon account and that, other than the camper van, the sums of money being investigated are very small ideed. (I am talking under £5.) As I understand it, the issue is likely to be one of negligence with NS signing off the accounts which should have been scrutinised further. One politician in Scotland went as far as stating that he understood the enquiry to be similar to the investigation in to Ranger FC a few seasons ago and would utlimately not find any criminality. I think that NS is porobably the greatest politician in UK pokitics oer the last decade albeit I would add that I mean "politician" in the least flattering definition. She has outwitted so many Uk MPs both in principle and from a moral perspective. If this does go bad for her, I think it will make people very sceptical of politicians in the UK and the negative impact will not be limited to Scotland. It will be fascinating to see the outcome but I would reiterate that Sturgeon's training in law would make me surprised if she has done anything wrong. She has been careful in this respect fot so much of her career, it just strikes me as being uncharacteristic. In my opinion, she has made enemies and they are out fo get her. Shame that the same efforts are not being employed to deal with Boris who I think will face far greater challenges in te near future. Difficult to speculate on the future for NS but just feel that the consequences will ultimately prove to be far more devastating for Boris once the Covid enquiry gets underway.
