Beverley 445 Keep looking at this one whilst my initial thoughts are with predictor , geremia also has a great shout . Having watched a good few races i can not get ghadbban out of my head . Ghad is bottom weight has been in form and should go well at c/d , Walford is in good form and although a strange booking its probrably not a bad one .12s ew just seems big with 3 places
The plan was the usual Sunday afternoon in the pub but keeping an eye on Beverley races on ITV4. But a friend has got free tickets from the sponsors, so instead I find myself looking at the card. From a betting point of view, today’s card makes more appeal than yesterday’s even though there are a couple of short-priced favourites. The sponsors’ money makes every race on the card today worth more than £10k and there are virtually no pothunters from HQ. I note that they have put the apprentice race first as these are often last races and half the crowd have headed for the car park. A seventeen runner sprint should start emptying a few wallets before the bar prices can; however, in a race where a low draw is vital and many of the runners have no recent form, it is not difficult to whittle it down to just a few possibles. Jordan Electrics is chasing the £100k bonus and arrives on a hat-trick but the thirteen draw makes me think he may have to wait for another Sunday. In the neighbouring stall Good Earth ran a fair second last time but has it all to do. Papa Cocktail has the worst draw chasing a four timer and this is also his first attempt at five. Very much in the mix is Le Beau Garcon, third on quick ground at Catterick last time and with the plum rail draw. May Blossom ran a good race last time and his eight draw is not bad if he is good enough. Mattice has a good draw and is only 1lb higher than his last winning mark but his three races so far this term hardly inspire confidence. So for me, Ryan Sexton’s mount MAJESKI MAN, drawn in seven and on a hat-trick, looks the way to go with his first win having been over course and distance. Midgley has clearly got some improvement out of him. I think I will be queuing at the bar to spend my winnings when the second race runs as it seems like Adele Mulrennan might be interviewing him indoors, rider of the favourite in the two year old fillies race. In the Stayers Handicap (4:45), several come in with winning form. Those backing Geremia may know their fate after fifty yards as he does tend to blow the start and his win last time was his first since two September 2021 wins on the kitty litter. Blow Your Horn won a moderate race last time – his first since May 2021 – but is not consistent enough for his single figure price. Charlie Johnston’s World Without Love has been more consistent on the kitty litter but his win in a five runner race at Carlisle was his first on turf. I wonder if he might be on the front end off a career high mark today. THE PREDICTOR also races off a career high mark today and last won off 73 but his fourth in the Chester Plate may be the best piece of form on offer and both his races this year have been on soft ground whilst the win at Thirsk last year was on quick ground like today. The 3YO Sprint (5:15) is quite a quandary (although the horse of that name is not running). Many of the field have questions to answer and there are a couple with new headgear applied. Another Baar won off 68 over six furlongs last time but has been hiked 10lb and has never won over five. I had picked out the clear form horse Dickieburd, third in the Epsom Dash, but he is a non runner now so I think I will leave this one. There looks to be a handicap good thing in the Fillies Handicap (5:45). Reach won a Class 5 Nottingham handicap in a canter last time and only has a 5lb penalty for that three length win; however, she was a well beaten fourth at York before that and out with the washing on her seasonal debut. Today Joanna Mason is not on her but they are sticking to the ten furlong trip on quick ground, so she should give a good account. My Little Queens has won two of her three starts this term and is chasing the £100k bonus after winning at Hamilton’s Sunday Series fixture. Do not expect to see her early as she comes from the back in her turf races. When looking at this field, my eye was immediately drawn to Karl Burke’s DUBAI CRYSTAL, a three year old who finished second at Ascot last time when given too much to do. She had previously made all in a minor race at Redcar and the booking of Franny Norton today suggests a possible return to that tactic off just a 2lb higher mark than Ascot. In the Sunday Series Handicap at 6:15, I think there is probably the bet of the day. On The River has won his three races this year – including one here – but on soft ground. He has won on quick ground but today he is on a career high mark of 76 and dropping back to 7 furlongs (last win 2021). Visibility won a moderate Class 5 on the kitty litter last time but will think he has been let loose off bottom weight here. The Cookstown Cafu has won two of his three starts in 2023 but has never won on anything faster than good. He will be trying to keep tabs on Charlie Johnston’s AUSTRIAN THEORY, raised only 2lb for making all under Joe Fanning at Epsom but dropping back a furlong today. He has not won over 7 furlongs since his racecourse debut but I think the drop in class will allow Fanning to dictate here under top weight. The closing mile and a half handicap see Hayley Turner team up with David Simcock’s recent Ripon winner Fulfilled again. He was held up that day and brought late to beat Golden Melody, who could frank the form in the 5:45 over the same trip. He is stepping up in trip today and the uphill finish on the Westwood is probably why the bookies have him just 5/2 for a repeat win. There are two interesting contenders from the Mick Easterby barn: eight year old Where’s Jeff won at Hamilton on his penultimate start (but was behind A La Francaise there last time) and Two Brothers who won over course and distance on easy ground in April, has been second twice since on soft ground and has never won on quick ground. The Nu Form Way won the Rapid Lad Handicap over ten furlongs here beating Where’s Jeff, was then third just behind Two Brothers at Chester on soft ground but won a Class 4 back there last time. Now on a career high 5lb higher mark, he is another one that will be finishing late up the hill. But before I head home, I hope to be seeing EEETEE phone home. Danny Tudhope rides the top weight, raised 5lb to a career high 86 for a good win at Redcar and, just like the favourite, David O’Meara’s gelding will be finishing late up the hill, stepping up two furlongs today. So the handicapper is hoping for a bunch photo finish to show he did his job right.

Interesting that in the Beverley opener the first four home were drawn 12,4,1,3 and two missed the start. Probably worth marking the winner up on that performance and more importantly having an eye on the 5:15. KINGS CROWN from stall 4 looks to have a very good chance.
Sorry for those of you following me so far as the horses have not read how it is supposed to go... Very disappointing crowd on the Westwood (no wonder they were giving tickets away). Two pints of Guinness nearly £14. My mate had the first two winners - he did the unraced two year old just for an interest! He blotted his copybook with habitual slow starter Geremia losing by less than it threw away at the start in the two mile race. The money horse in the 5:15 has been Winter Crown. Hoping something that I am on will trouble the judge today.
Have to say that I am really p*ssed off with Beverley. Me and my mate went out to watch the last race and when we came back somebody had cleared the table - two half full pints of Guinness gone and the racecard. I ended up empty wallet on the day while he had four winners but no sour grapes...
