So, that makes us the unofficial champions of Europe? Only right when we had the greatest manger in Europe in charge.
Hmmm… amazing what one and a half billion pounds, top class lawyers and a murderous regime will get you….
Curious what that'll mean for Pep's future. Has two more years remaining with City, having only recently extended his contract, but he has been pretty open about wanting a break at some point, and that's not going to be an easy season to top.
He will want the quadruple and with his true nemesis Nathan Jones finally out of the way he may just achieve it.
Yeah it would seem like the perfect time to step away. Him leaving is the biggest risk to City being dominant for the next 5 years or so, domestically at least. They are miles ahead of any other English club atm, Guardiola leaving could disrupt them significantly though
That's only bad on this forum when it comes to Newcastle. Everyone loves City and their owners don't get a mention.
Yeah really. Newcastle seem to get loads of stick due to their owners and people actually seemed to get quite angry about it. Yet I've not seen anywhere near the same amount of comments re City. In fact, people seem to actively support them. The hypocrisy is bizarre tbh and I can't get my head round it. The only thing I can think of is people justify it to themselves cos they hate Liverpool and City doing well upsets them.
Yes I obviously meant everyone literally including myself. Any comments to make on the actual point or you just being pedantic for the sake of it. ****ing moron.
I guess a lot of it is to do with it happening so long ago… relatively. I remember having a conversation with someone I used to work with around 2003 and City were on the verge of going under. It would’ve been the first “big club” to go to the wall and financially, they were absolutely screwed. The sad thing is, so desperate were the football authorities as well as the Government to have the interest from the UAE combined with the fact that the FA and PL were just not ready for the financial muscle they would bring. A lot of the rules were made retrospectively after the big few clubs had money that had never been seen/dreamt of before in football. Although I have no evidence, I don’t doubt there was a lot of cosying up done about the stadiums availability for peanuts. The government basically allowed the privatised regeneration of the area by another Government. For me, I’m old enough to remember the City takeover and obviously the Newcastle one and I think people are more indignant about this one as it’s been in the news a lot more-but ultimately and sadly, there a looooooot of Geordie fans who don’t care because they’ve started winning. It’s been going on so long at City that there a new generation of fans who are old enough not to remember, they just remember their mums and dads, etc celebrating without question the way the Geordie fans are now. Its sad and people have and will accuse me of being bitter and jealous that it’s not my club, but the fact is, sport and politics (in this case global) shouldn’t mix and sport washing is becoming more and more normal.
