I follow proper football if that’s what you are asking, I don’t follow s hite like that though, It’s like Sunderland v Holland or Sunderland v Germany Or am I the only one that sees it like that? Anyway hope Inter Milan batter them it will be even better if they don’t get the treble.
I didn't know who was in the final either, agree with the sentiment about City. Mind if they do win I won't give a **** either.
Same with West Ham....you'd think they'd won the World Cup the way the media have reported this, it's the lowest ranking trophy UEFA have conjured up ffs...on a par with the inter toto or whatever it was called. I can see why 10 year old fans are wetting themselves over it but grown men....really.
Well this guy is certainly confident Man City are gonna win https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...6863269352381&referrer=https://www.google.com
It's more on par with the Cup Winners Cup to be fair, which was a random and wonderful tournament. I'd give anything to see Sunderland win it to be honest. Same with the League Cup. It's a trophy. That's better than 7th place in the Premier League or whatever clubs strive for these days.
The Cup Winners Cup was a pretty good tournament, it used to rank second after the old European Cup/Champions League until it was disbanded. The list of winners is impressive: Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, AC Milan, Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea, Rangers, Ajax, Lazio and Valencia among others. Even when Aberdeen won it, they had to beat Real Madrid in the final. The UEFA conference league will never get the the status the Cup Winners Cup did, it's more on par with the old UEFA cup (if even that).
Ben Thatcher. Always was a dirty bastard. How he got away with only a two game ban for elbowing Nicky Summerbee in the head is a joke, second only to the ref missing it.
That's interesting, I always though it was the 3rd competition when I was younger with the Uefa Cup second. I mentioned that it was comparable in the sense that there were a lot more random teams and winners in it. You're probably right that it's not quite on par with those 2 tournaments (because of more teams being in Europe) but it's still a very worthy trophy to win in my opinion.
I can see where you're coming from, mate. I think after it got disbanded people kind of forgot how good a competition it was. But being 50 now I remember a lot of it as a kid from the 80s and 90s. Also while the UEFA cup was a two legged final, the Cup Winners Cup was a single match, which made it a showcase final like the European Cup. I've stuck a link in below that shows all the winners. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Cup_Winners'_Cup If you look at the list of winners you see a lot of "big" clubs present, but even the runners up were generally "big" teams or teams from "big" leagues (England, Spain, Italy, West Germany etc). The randoms weren't much more prevalent than in the old European Cup at the same time (Bruges, Malmö and Panathinaikos getting to the final in the 70s, Steaua Bucharest and Red Star Belgrade winning it for example). What's sad is how over the last 25-30 years the gap between the richer, "big" leagues and clubs and the rest has widened so much that it's pretty much the same names from the same countries monopolising from the quarter finals onwards to the point that teams like Ajax, Rangers, Celtic, Feyenoord and Anderlecht for example don't get a look in.
This is class from 'City fans, laying this in Istanbul (reported as being in Instanbul) in memory of Kev and Chris.
Inter might battle hard and Brozovic will be absolutely everywhere, but I can't see anything but a Man City win. Lautaro is a very obvious danger but I think Akanji has enough to deal with him.
Cheers mate, didn't read it properly as I'm dipping in and out of a few jobs right now before the game. I guess it pays for me to take my time!
