Good Morning. It's Friday 9th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Farke that...

Daniel Farke is the new favourite to take the reigns at Elland Road after overnight developments in West Yorkshire. With a takeover imminent, betting patterns over the last 24 hours suggest the former Norwich City, Krasnodar and Borussia Mönchengladbach gaffer to be the chosen one to succeed Sam Allardyce.

For the 46yo German to go from obscurity to odds on favourite (15/8) in a matter of days seems to suggest there is more to this rumour than meets the eye. Carlos Corberan (3/1) and Steven Gerrard (4/1) are obviously still in with a shout, but for now at least, the spotlight falls on Farke.

He twice won the Championship title with the Canaries (18-19 and 20-21) but was sacked in November 2021 after a poor start to their Premier League campaign. He joined Russian outfit FC Krasnodar, but left his post in March 2022, after only two months in charge after war broke out in the Ukraine.

He spent last season in charge of Borussia Mönchengladbach, but was dismissed only last week after a poor season by their standards, after finishing 10th.

Adams wants to quit Elland Road

Various media outlets are reporting that Tyler Adams wants to quit Leeds Utd. The news, although not completely unexpected, will be a massive body blow to both the club and its legions of fans.

Leeds plucked the USA skipper out of obscurity from RB Leipzig, and regalvanised him to be one of the leading midfielders in the Premier League last season. His tough tackling, tenaciousness and desire to succeed quickly made him a fans favourite both on and off the terraces. It has even been suggested that had he stayed fit, Leeds would have avoided relegation last term, such was his influence on the team.

If the tabloids are correct, Leeds may recoup as much as £35m for the 24yo, the same fee we paid Hoffenheim for Georginio Rutter in January.

Leeds ready to offer Forshaw lifeline

Leeds are set to offer Adam Forshaw a new short term contract to keep him at Elland Road next season. The 31yo has been plagued by injuries for the majority of his Elland Road tenure, and only managed 13 appearances last season (568 minutes of game time).

When fit, the former Middlesbrough and Brentford Midfielder has proved a useful ally. He has the best pass rate in Leeds entire squad (84.2%) and has an intelligent footballing brain on him. Leeds will need to get rid of the stragglers this Summer, if they are to rebuild and challenge for promotion. The likes of Forshaw, Dallas, Cooper and Ayling are close to their expiry dates, though their experience in the Championship could be invaluable!

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Hoping that Farke is a joke as yet again we look at a gamble, so not a great start for the new owners. Farke cannot do it in the top leagues and why he gets sacked. Yes he has won promotion but surely we don’t want a manager just for one season? Same can be said of Gerrard who hasn’t got anything on his CV except in the SPL, same with Parker who has 2 promotions but cannot do it in the Prem and was even sacked in a poor Belgium league. No we need an experienced coach with a reputation who has a plan to promote and backing by the owners to move forward and stay in the prem with ease.

Adams will go and we will get more than our money back for him, but it’s sad that we may be looking at giving Forshaw another contract because he should have been blown out last year along with Cooper, Dallas, Ayling etc and the real cause of our problems. Forshaw when fit if he can ever get can be good in the championship however

Morning if Adams goes then to hell with him. We need players willing to play for the shirt not soccer mercenaries.

    Morning all Leeds fans.

Farke doesn't fill me with enthusiasm but frankly, he's the level of manager we're going to have to look at now. I can't see any decent Prem level manager taking us on, unless the 49ers have got one hell of a plan and prepared to throw serious money at it. Bielsa was a one-off, makes you wonder how the hell we managed to coax him into coming at all.

Adams going, well it's what most of us expected. It's what happens when teams go down. How long before he's fit to play though ? I'm guessing not long enough to keep him at the club, but the fact he is injured may have a negative impact on the fee we'd get ?

And I'm surprised that Forshaw had that many games to be honest, didn't seem that many. Will do a job in the championship, IF he stays fit.

You can probably tell my glass is half empty this morning.

That's where we are. Keeping Forshaw and try get a few minutes out of him and Adams gone. To be expected and good riddance same as with the rest. Few if any of last seasons squad were fit to wear the jersey so from a personal view, I never formed any bond with any of them. That's not the way it should be. Remember how we felt about Berra, Pablo, Alioski. They're the kind of players I want at the club but realise given the current state of football, that's only a pipe dream.

    Morning

Wouldn't be my choice but solely for the Championship, Farke isn't a bad option. One of the successful manager in Championship history winning the title in 2 out of 3 seasons. Of course then you have to wonder what the plan in the Premier League would be but that's a long way off now.

It's worth saying that once Norwich sacked Farke they still finished bottom of the league and then went on to finish in the bottom half of the Championship so maybe it was just Norwich as a club that were way off Premier League standard. If it is Farke I just hope we don't pin our hopes on getting Teemu Pukki.

Farke took a year to get grips with Norwich, then got them promoted twice. Admittedly a disaster in the prem, in between. I have my doubts about his sides defensively. Norwich tended to outscore teams... becomes a problem in the prem,

Feeling from Gladbach is the team and the board is the problem not the manager, results were so so - no better ot worse than previously.

Has a rep for being a good and honourable guy - something that people feel the club has been missing. Norwich fans love him.

So some plusses and minuses as with any candidate. Think there would be worse choices out there.

Farke's record in the Championship largely speak for itself, the trouble I think when we got promoted was that we don't have the funds to buy the players we needed to make his system work at a higher level. In our first PL season we elected to keep the same squad that won promotion - spending under £1m on new signings with the addition of a few loans that barely featured. The second PL season was a different story - we spent relatively big for us, £60m on 12 new players, and tried to implement a brand new style. We were winless in our first 10 games but we had half the team out with COVID for pre-season which was a massive factor. Also worth mentioning that we sold our main creative spark - Buendia, and Cantwell seemed to fall out with the hierachy and was dropped after a game or 2. The decision had already been made to sack Farke after that winless run and he won his final game at the club - who knows if he would have turned things around.

Ultimately, I think he could certainly get you promoted and with your larger resources he may stand a better chance of keeping you in the PL.

Farke has to be a joke.

Would've loved Adams to stay but knew it would be a tough ask and if he’s going probably worth keeping Forshaw on a pay as you play short term deal as he’ll be handy in the championship even if it’s just as a squad/rotation option.

I personally would have DF back at Carrow Road, no problem.
Took a time to win over the fans, but we had some great Championship promotions.
Insufficient funds cost us in the Premier, but his knowledge of the European leagues is good.
I hope you don't sign him, as I want him back at Carrow Rd

So most Norwich fans would think he'd do a good job if he becomes our new manager.
