Why would they?

If we offer too little another club will offer the money they want.

The Premier League has 3 teams that spend more than Newcastle.

Chelsea, United and City.

We live in a dream land. Offer the money they want and you sign good players.

Exactly. Maddison, who is in the top 5 of assists playing in the 3rd worst team in the league.

If we don't offer the money, someone else will.

At this point I'm unsure where we would play him. Seems that Gordon will be starting 11 and Longstaff will be squad level, so where does Maddison go?

He can either take Joelintons spot, or Bruno's. Bruno and Joelinton aren't going anywhere, we just signed Gordon for 40m ... I'm just unsure where we would even play him.

He certainly isn't a squad player.

I'm concerned that Harvey Barnes is coming in as a replacement for Max.

Tbh maddison could prove another paqueta like situation.

 

He's so expensive and we just don't need him tbh. He's gonna have two demands when he signs, well, three.

I don't think we can match the second one right now. Not with so many players expecting a starting place.

 

Is Maddison even that good?

 

He's certainly one of the best creative midfielders in the league, but as of this moment, I can't envision a scenario Newcastle spend money on him.

He does create a lot. Stats are very impressive. Bit of baggage though.

 

I haven’t looked at him closely but seems to be injured quite a lot. To me comes across quite cocky like Dele Alli, which I guess people like if he’s your player but not if you’re a fan of another club.

 

I have my doubts about him, but suppose he's not really had chance yet to express himself with a big club. Leicester are ok, but he needs a bigger challenge to prove himself. Not sure if he will get that at Newcastle, do the Toon really cut it, Maxi is about the biggest thing to come out of Newcastle and I'm not talking about the Maestro...
