Dismiss what? The articles don't even claim anything happened, there's nothing to dismiss. <doh>

A worrying reminder of just how easily with Government and Media bias, all singing from the same songsheet just how easy it is to turn the majority of public opinion against a minority.

Said the same myself recently, but obviously on a less popular topic - on that topic it was thought to be ''I don't believe it's got anything to do with anyone trying to deflect or hide what's going on elsewhere in the country. That's just stupid conspiracy level thinking''. The right wing press have been doing it for years and are getting worse, this country is blindly following the US model whereby one or two media moguls have all the popular TV/News stations and all the most read newspapers - it's coming but the majority are too blind or blinkered to see it.

Am I the only one who enjoyed getting to spend so much quality time at home with my family, and finally doing all those jobs that I would do when I got a round tuit?

About time we had another if you ask me, just in time for summer.

No, I'm sure there's loads of you. On the other hand I wasn't with my parents when they died because of some stupid rules and regulations which were later rescinded and as it seems to have turned out didn't do much good anyway. There's also loads like me.

It's statistically more common with athletes/sportspeople - some think it's to do with the extra pressure on the immune system at the time of infection. I run sprint training sessions for team sports, specifically handball, and two of the professional athletes (one is Norways fastest woman at 100 and 200m) who often came down and gave their knowledge, have had to unfortunately retire due to long covid symptoms.

Much better reply than I could have mustered but said exactly what I would have said if I could have been arsed to think about it and respond <ok>

There's millions of us mate, wouldn't be so bad if all the horror stories and scare mongering was right but as more and more comes out it looks like we should have followed the Swedish way and just carried on as normal. Oh and those of us who questioned the rules and restrictions where called a multitude of nasty things.

The fact that the party line is STILL that it came from the wet market is the biggest slap in the face for me. It just happened to come from the same city that has a lab that specifically does this kind of gain of function research on these specific viruses. The coincidence is absolutely astronomical but anyone in the scientific community who pointed this out was ostracised and marginalised. If they refuse to be honest about its origins then we can’t imagine our best interest are at heart in regards to the response.

The city of Wuhan is over five times the size of London, we're not talking about a facility next door to the wet market where all the initial cases occurred. It's like having a new disease appear in Hull and saying it was obviously because there's a research facility in York.

Obviously, I've no idea where it did come from, but it's nowhere near as clear cut as you're suggesting, particularly as the WHO investigated the site and said it was highly unlikely that it was the source.

The case for it being the source was also not helped by Trump claiming it was, as everyone assumes everything he says is nonsense.

Viruses mutate and occasionally there is cross-species transmission. This has occurred for practically the whole of the history of life on earth. It will continue to occur. It's part of the evolutionarily process. Scientists will continue to research ways of combating viruses and will continue to experience success and failure. Further epidemics will inevitably occur. Some will be worse than others and some will impact globally, whilst others will occur in isolated locations. Governments will be pressured to respond to these natural events as they impact. Their responses may or may not have positive effects.

And that's about it. It is what it is.

Nope the Chinese who were having a global struggle economically and were up against Trumps ‘America first ‘ industrial might definitely didn’t allow this to happen to damage them and the West ? . They could become top dog , look how their economy became the key supplier and how well they’ve recovered ? Life’s very cheap when you have 1-4 billion people to work with and a long term aim. The rest of the World is beholding to China for so many things and on so many levels . The Chinese were laughed at for taking loads of pics of all and everything when they visited- quickest and best way is to do this return or send them home and copy - don’t forget we were over 100 years ahead or more economically . Not now
We sell our silver and souls to anyone as long as it makes our lives comfy , and then all of a sudden they turn round and stop and start the flow like the Arabs are doing with oil and the Russians with gas .
We don’t seem to have anything so vital and if we did the govt would have sold it the Yanks , the Chinese or the French
    Rant over

Not saying you're wrong, although other versions from credible sources certainly exist but the highlighted bit made me smile given the record of its current leader, who 'cured' cholera in Ethiopia when he was health minster there by renaming it acute watery diarrhoea (AWD). That not only mean that the initial victims couldn't get the appropriate treatment, but it helped it spread to neighbouring countries. Even then, Ethiopians couldn't get a Cholera vaccine, as officially nobody had cholera according to Tedros.

That's just one of a number of very questionable decisions he's made, including appointing Robert Mugabe as a goodwill ambassador to the WHO. <laugh>

There's more and a summary is on the link. It doesn't get any better for digging deper.
