Good Morning. It's Thursday 8th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Allardyce tips double act to take ER reigns

Sam Allardyce has tipped Karl Robinson and Robbie Keane to succeed him at Elland Road, claiming the players and staff need to avoid another big transition in terms of different styles, attitudes, ways of coaching, and obviously contrasting styles of football.

The duo were part of Allardyce's coaching team during his 25 day stay; but saw enough during that time to highly recommend them
. The 68 yo indicated that between them, with Robbo's Management and communication skills and Keane being brilliant around the players and giving out a great vibe; they could be the perfect combination to take Leeds back to the Premier League.

According to Allardyce:- "I feel because Karl [Robinson] and Robbie [Keane] did so well, they would be ideal to take over the running of the football side. "Karl has huge experience as a manager and I know the Leeds fans would look at Karl Robinson, but down in the lower divisions he's learnt his trade, he's done his time. He's a great communicator and I know I could leave him at any single time for whatever reason and not be there and know the place would be run in the right way.

"Robbie, even though I only knew him from Soccer Aid, with him for the short period of time - brilliant around the players and gave a great vibe to everybody. They know all the staff and know all the players so they can hit the ground running and Leeds need to hit the ground running." "Which is today. Not tomorrow, but today. If they choose to go somewhere else, which they might do, probably if I look at it realistically it's more than likely, then good luck to them.

"But that would be another transition that I don't think the players need. They've had three transitions, including me, last season." "It causes a huge amount of different styles, different attitudes, different ways of coaching, different ways of playing and I think there's a certain amount of confusion amongst the players on 'well that coach wanted that, this coach wants this.'

"I think Karl and Robbie would be ideal to get in there and start the process for what needs to be done for next season. There isn't a lot of time and Leeds really need to hit the ground running by doing all their business as quick as they possibly can." "Who's going to have to leave? What financial implications there are, because we know that's the biggest thing and what will the team and the squad look like?

"The obviously with Karl and Robbie understanding, not just all the players there, but all the staff. It's an easy transition and financially very sound, which you have to think of all things when you're going down to the Championship. That's my ideal, whether Leeds would go that way, I don't know, but certainly if those two got there I'd be happy. "If they didn't invite me, fine fair enough. If they did, I'd only be too happy to help them. I think Karl deserves a crack.

    Leeds slapped with misconduct charge

The FA have slapped a misconduct charge on Leeds United following an incident last month where a fan found his way into Newcastle Utd's technical area, and confronted Eddie Howe.

Leeds have until Wednesday, June 14 to provide a response.

in his technical area during May’s Premier League fixture. A man approached Howe, before being swiftly escorted away by stewards and security, in the 93rd minute of the 2-2 draw between the two sides. The fan has since received a lifetime ban from Elland Road, and faces his day in Court next month. Leeds have until Wednesday, June 14 to provide a response.

An FA statement read: “Leeds United FC has been charged with misconduct in relation to crowd control that occurred during its Premier League game against Newcastle United FC on Saturday 13 May 2023."

“It’s alleged that the club failed to ensure its spectators and/or supporters – and anyone purporting to be its supporters or followers – conduct themselves in an orderly fashion and don’t use words or behave in an improper, offensive, violent, threatening, abusive, insulting or provocative way.”

    Leeds tipped for automatic promotion

Leeds are second favourites for promotion back to the top flight, according to leading bookmakers Bet365. Leicester City lead the way (at 6/4), with Leeds (2/1), Southampton (5/2) and Boro (10/3) not far behind. West Brom, Watford and Norwich are share odds of 9/2. The Whites are 15/2 to top the Championship, just behind the Foxes at 11/2.

Plymouth, Rotherham and Huddersfield are favourites for the drop, with odds varying from 13/8 to 11/4, whereas Leeds (50/1) are the least likely to find themselves back in League 1, at least in the bookies eyes.

    Morning all,

Has someone been putting alcohol in Allardyces pints of gravy? Has be really said that he recommends Keane after working with him on Soccer Aid?

Couldn't care less about the bookies. Most of last season we were well out of their bottom three for relegation. I know nothing about Robinson, Keane one of my modern day heroes

This is the downside and aftermath of appointing a dinosaur like big Sam for those few games, he now feels he is in a position to comment on everything and anything about the club, he is such a prick. Now we know why he wanted to be appointed DoF so that he could appoint his buddies, why oh why do the media listen to anything he has to say, he is so irrelevant.

New coach, I would say it is starting to look like a two horse race, Parker or Gerrard, neither fill me with confidence but either will inherit a decent squad I'm sure.

Wober looks like he has given a goodbye speech on Instagram.

The guy invading the pitch, give him a life ban, say we are sorry and move on or blame Orta and say we have sacked him over it ;)

Second favourite is good, that takes a bit of pressure off, I did see the release list at Leicester and how Maddison will be sold along with doubts over a few others, I have no idea what the U21 setup is like at Leicester but I would have put us ahead of them myself in the betting race

    Good morning everyone
Been away in sunny Cornwall for a few days, beautiful down their :emoticon-0157-sun:
For me the only way we will bounce straight back up is with an experienced talented manager/coach ie a Potter or Rodgers , anyone else will simply be learning their trade with us, not saying a Robinson/Kean or anyone else wouldn't get us up, but it would take a few seasons for them to find out what kind of team will succeed in the Championship, and how to survive/progress in the premier league.

I think I’d rather go with Parker, he has at least got a promotion on his CV

Big Sam recently called DoF a few names and said no way will I work with one. Harry said the same Bruce, Big Mick, Warnock all the dinosaurs said the same thing and now the greedy fat twat wants some more easy money and jobs for his useless mates….. no.

Fk Allardyce and the horse he rode in on

As for Leicester being fave to win promotion, why? They will lose their best players, they're in a financial hole & they don't have a manager

I think we’ve been ruined since Marcelo departed. When he was here the optimism was great, even the click bait sites were great, suggesting some top players were desperate to join the club. Even though we knew it was unlikely. Pretty much all the news was overwhelming positive.

Since then, it’s generally been fairly negative media coverage. Makes this pre season hard to take, when we are awaiting ownership confirmation/manager or coach/ possible DoF before we get onto the subject of players.

Regards the Championship, I didn’t want us to go down, but enjoyed our last 2 seasons there. Not keen on American ownership, but until better turns up (no idea who or what), think we’re saddled with it. Think Rads will keep a minority shareholding.

Lost patience with a lot of the players, think there has to be a cull of quite a few. Hopefully we will find out quite quickly who is going or staying. Then onto a bit of a rebuild. I’d like to see Heldje and Cresswell feature from the off. Reckon Drameh will go. Feel we need more of a playmaker in midfield and hopefully keep Adams. Up top think we have enough out wide with James’s loan ending, but we seriously need a regular reliable striker(doesn’t everyone). Hopefully we will see why we paid an inflated price for Rutter.

I can’t get excited about many of the managers being talked of. I’d probably prefer Potter, and I realise this would be unacceptable to many at ER, but I think Wayne Rooney will become a top manager. IMO he did brilliantly at Derby, with what he was left with, post administration, for which he got little or no credit. He’s managing Klichy over in the US, so learning his trade at a lower level unlike Lampard/Gerrard. MOT

Straight after relegation a forlorn Rodrigo apologised to the fans he did it with words and feeling and you could tell he was hurting when he said sorry. Cooper came out a day later and then the following week Tyler Adams, Robin Koch and now this week Forshaw, Firpo the rest just hiding and picking up their wages whilst engineering a way out of the club. Wober as well today saying sorry…
