Thing is I can't see it happening now all the top 6 are very secure in their respective owners hands, and they ain't exactly skint are they ? But can see one of the middle of the table clubs going under at some point.
Not skint you say... there's probably some heavily stretched overdrafts and loan statements that would disagree! Manyoo and Liverpool both have massive debt, Arsenal do too but in fairness they make money... as soon as they pay off the stadium they'll be fine. I'd like to see how Man City and Chelsea fared without being bankrolled too!
Scott, they are servicing the debts easily now, Liverpool are not in debt at all now though as all were paid when they were taken over, the glazers have proven that they are is right, their turnover has more than doubled since they been in charge, all the clubs in the top 6 are making money, and paying debts.
Vetch, couldn't agree more, been saying this for ages and ages. It's utterly obscene when a player can earn in ONE WEEK what it would take the average fan, working his/her grinding 9-5, some 10/12 YEARS to earn. Just extend this. What a top player earns, in a month, means a fan virtually has to work 40/50 years, a lifetime, to earn the same. This is complete and utter insanity. Idiots will protest, and they ARE idiots that it is a short career!!!!!!! Ye Gods, pay me that sort of money and, after 12 months, you can break both my legs on a regular basis, preventing me from ever playing again. Bit extreme but you get my drift. The thing is, it sets the bar for other players of far lesser talent who then value their own ability way, way above what it is really worth. No one should begrudge the top players being rewarded for their talent but present levels of salaries are matched only by the stupidity of those prepared to pay them. Oh, I forgot, they pass along a huge chunk of them to we the fans who are now paying extortionate sums either to go to games or on subscription channels. Football was once a sport that everyone could afford to follow. When I grew up, even when people were broke, finding money for football was never a problem. It was always affordable. Not any longer, so, as far as I'm concerned, Vetch is right. The sooner the better and it is my fervent hope that more than one big club will go to the wall in spectacular fashion to hammer home some facts of life to the rest.
Yeah you're right in fairness, I should've checked up on Liverpool before posting that! I maintain though, if anything happened to Man Utd, for example, which stopped their revenue stream quite so much (2 or 3 star players up and leaving/poor league performance leading to non-euro qualification) then they'd be up **** creek. I don't see why companies are allowed to carry on with extravagant expenditure while in huge amounts of debt that would be enough to bankrupt business' in other walks of life.
Well I don't think man utd will ever be in that position to be honest, well until fergie leaves at least ! Man City are backed by a country , Chelsea has one of the richest men in the world there, arsenal are making lots of money so no problem there. Spurs don't appear to have troubles, and that is it I think.
If someone came in and offered to double the players wages then you will find that loyalty will go out of the window and they would make sure they would be out of here like a shot....
They can't just leave dai they are under contract, which means that they can only go if the club sanctions it, so that would involve a hefty transfer fee.
jager you know as well as i do that if the player gets his head turned with money then it wont take him long to slap in a transfer that the club will be forced to accept as the players interest in the club would diminish on the pitch and in the dressing room. You cant keep a player if he wants to leave. as long as a fair price has been offered then thats it,
You are repeating what I just said above, the swans must agree the move, like the Taylor situation with the toons it can be refused, and will be if it doesn't suit our club. If its refused the player continues playing for us it's that simple!

if any offer for any of our players are to good to turn down and the player himself is happy with the offer then its bye bye and thank you for your efforts,,,we then move on and look for more gems that will make us money,,,,that the way it works im afraid.....
Of course Dai, but there are a lot of ifs there, and every team is in the same situation with that, okay the bigger teams appear to not suffer with it, but take a look at the transfers of ronaldo and tevez and Carroll.

Whilst I agree with many of your points here - the issue is that this money problem is self fueling and everyone wants a piece of the BPL pie, including us the fans. If it was not the league that everyone wants to play in and the cost of the star players - then you'd be watching the Welsh league for a tenner a game...
