As if anyone would date that ugly as ****, spotty, snide if he weren't making a wedge. Genuinely makes my skin crawl him
I don't think some countries accommodate away support in the same way the British do. I think Spain is another country like that, probably not helped by the larger distances they may have to travel, compared to our little island.
When I studied down the road we’d go in the Villarreal away end as it was the cheapest stand. Even when they played Valencia, a huge club and very close, there was maybe 1000 away fans. The end held maybe 3-4000.
Would be delighted to see Moyes win a pot so hope they can do it tonight. Can actually see English sides dominating this competition a bit as whoever is capable of finishing 7th in league should be stronger than 90% of the competition. Villa under Emery are surely one of the favourites next season too and would be shocked if they didn't make at least the semi.
Juve have to be favourites for next seasons Europa conference. They earned enough points to get in the CL, but Serie A docked them 10 points for their usual cheating shenanigans so they got knocked down to the Europa conference spot.
I think the points deductions made a complete laughing stock of Serie A. Deducted 15 points, 15 points given back, deducted 10 points probably get it back again and placed in the CL. It's not so much what it does to them, it's how it affects the teams around them. Never seen anything like it, it would be better to penalise them with a heavier points deduction so it has the desired affect. It would be like taking 10 points off City, they would still remain in the CL although Arsenal would get gifted a second hand trophy win. Complete nonsense.
Juve are what keeps 75% of the global interest in Serie A, so Serie A doesnt want to screw them over too much. They were already pressured into relegating them a few years back when it emerged they were bribing officials, which was also a piss poor punishment, they got straight back into Serie A, even though they started the season on -9 points Really the club should have been banned from competing in the league altogether. Smudging the financials is one thing, but literally paying off refs to cheat the game for you, especially when you already have the best squad in the league, just takes the absolute piss.
Ah didn't realise that as don't follow European football. Yeah you'd have to make them favourites then though I definitely expect Villa to get far as Emery loves a European competition.
Yup I agree. Like you say they've either got to be banned or I think at the very least banned from achieving any European places that season, at least then when you are three quarters the way through a season, the teams around them know if they have chance of that extra qualifying place. I'm partly sure that was why Roma gave up chasing CL (thinking also they could win Europa League as another route), after Juve got the 15 points back, when Jose' lot were sitting in fourth place at the time - Roma didn't deserve it anyway overall, but when applying points deduction you need to take the what if out of it. That way if Juve had a 10 or 15 point deduction or the entire 25 point deduction at least then every team around them knows a ban from achieving Europe will apply in every scenario.
Aye, ideally that would have been the case, but I dont think Serie A has the authority to ban any club from European Competition, that would have to be done by UEFA no? Since they run the CL and the two Europey cups.
I think technically the domestic league decides who the qualifiers are so could in theory could tell UEFA that they're not a qualifier this season but it would probably bring legal battles. I remember when you beat Pompey in the cup final in 2010 and they went down that they weren't allowed to compete in Europe the next season due to finances. Can't remember if that was an FA or Uefa decision though.
Facking come on West ‘am. I’ve already had eight portions of pie and mash and pushed the missus down the stairs today.
