Number 1 is with brandy. Not my ideal breakfast spirit to be honest Diffords guide is good, but seriously the number 2 is really nice. First made at the Savoy I think. Just ask one of those fancy Chelsea mixologists to rustle you one up. You’ll be pleasantly surprised
It does sound nice Had a variety of different cocktails in Manchester over the weekend So much so I knicked the menu so I can have a go myself at home
Frozen Lemon and lime infused Vodka (cheaper and better to make your own), Cointreau, cranberry juice - shaken (that is, in a cocktail shaker, not in a Holly Willoughby finds out Phil's fibbed type of way) - add freshly squeezed lime juice and strain over ice. Into a glass obviously. If you can be arsed, curl out a piece of orange peel to garnish. (No, not like that, with one of those citrus peely cutters). Perfect summer cosmopolitan. please log in to view this image
Thats was going great Ern' until the cointreau... 45 years later I still shudder at the result of drinking it like it was lager...
We've all got a drink like that. For me it's Southern Comfort. Necked it from the bottle at a party, dressed like some Bohemian Phil Oakey inspired gigalo, trying to impress a girl called Gwen. I was found passed out, head in the toilet bowl, by her and her cousin. My best flamboyant New Romantic frilly shirt liberally flecked with vomit. She resisted my further advancements that night. And every other night to this day if I'm being honest.
Jack Daniels for me. A drinking competition. Had to be carried arm and leg to a taxi (in the days they let you in). It was nearly 20 years before I could even stand the smell again.
Creme de Menthe. Absolutely never again, last drink left in the kitchen at a party (for good reason obviously). Just a no along with any other aniseed flavoured spirits. Just the thought let alone the smell makes me gag.
