Right then you lot, If you're watching the match tonight, let's look at it from an NCFC players POV. So far our players tipped for international duty are: Pilks, Johnson, Holt (?), Barnett, Ruddy. Whilst watching, bear in mind whether our boys would have done anything different, better or worse, in the situations the England players find themselves. Be as impartial as you can! OTBC PC
I think Pilks on one wing and Walcott on the other would give Bent so much more support. Pilks doesn't mind tracking back to defend either. Of our English players I think Pilks could offer most to the international set up.
As for Ruddy, there was one shot at the near post that Hart held from Silva. I suspect that Ruddy might have struggled with that a little more.
Hey, it's only his feet that he can't shoot with. Every Johnson couldn't miss a header from a yard out!
On that showing, Pilks would have done better than Downing, and Holt would have done a good job holding the ball up for Bent to play off of.
Holt and Sturridge D PERFECT!) Like the idea of Walcott...Wilshere...Parker...Pilkington --- Plus Grant Holt would have made a FAR BETTER CAPTAIN than that joke Barry: FACT.
Downing has played 31 times for England done nothing, played all Liverpools games this year had 27 shots 0 goals and 0 assists. Why he's in the squad on form above Pilkington this year I don't know.
To be brutally honest, i don`t think any of our boys are good enough.... When Ashley Cole retires maybe Tierney as left back... Ruddy is good but only as a bench warmer i can`t` remember his last clean sheet ,Pompy maybe? Would i pick B Johnson over Parker? No.................
The problem is all the young hopefuls are too good, such as Jones, and will always get picked ahead, no matter what the Norwich players do.
A lot of players are still getting picked on reputation eg Downing. As already mentioned he does nothing for club or country but because he's Stewart Downing he gets picked. This is why when the squad is announced for the Euro's you'll find that Ferdinand, Terry, Lampard, Gerrard, Downing et al will be involved and the young hopefuls like Jones, Rodwell, Welbeck and Sturridge will have a nice long holiday and why none of the City players will be involved
Agreed, basically what I said but better. I actually thought Jones played well yesterday. We were fine yesterday without Ferdinand and Terry. Parker did a better job than Gerrard would have done. I also liked Jagielka and Lescott at the back. The Ferdinand and Terry partnership isn't as great as it appears.
