Steve Gerrard lets not forget spent £100m on players and Emeri uses a couple of them as subs the rest he don’t want, even Coutinho who has only played 30 times in 2 seasons so even worse than Bamford. Only 1 goal assist this season. Luca Dingna he bought from Everton but Emeri brought in his own LB so Digne sits on the bench, Chambers, Olson… Emeri brought in 2 players and won a European spot after Gerrard took Villa into relegation zone. No thanks and even talking about this imposter makes no sense when real coaches are out there who have a CV
Thought for a while it was just me thinking he was utter rubbish. Glad we agree Now if we were to try poaching his former no 2 from Rangers, Michael Beale, Id be on board with that. I guess with our lack of pulling power though hell have to be someone currently unemployed as usual
I can only imagine that the board believe bringing in a "big name" will appease the fans and prove they mean business rather than bring in yet another unknown coach. But everywhere I look all I see is fans saying "Gerrard ? Hell No !" so what are they thinking ? Pease let this be just paper talk.
Just the mention of some of these names like Tyler Roberts just shows you how many nobbers we signed ffs. Also sick of watching Fabrizio talking about who’s going to PSG, Inter, Chelsea, Brighton and Liverpool etc and we’re still messing about…..
Someone tell me that this is normal? In my view Leicester did the opposite of Leeds whereby we gave everyone long contracts to protect the club and Leicester didnt so ran the risk of these greedy players deciding to tell the club and the fans they were not bothered and would leave on freebies. Leicester and Leeds relegated but Leiecester had good players on top wages……. Criminal ghis and Harvey Barnes and 3 more are in the last year and refusing so will go on cheap fees too
When does a good coach suddenly become bad, Chelsea sacking Potter, Leicester sacking Rodgers after his previous record, Leeds sacking Bielsa after three fantastic seasons, the list could go on and on. Paul Heckingbottom - He was useless at Leeds and last season won promotion, what did he get right that he got wrong at Leeds Ange Postecoglou - He's done well at Celtic and managed Australian and Japanese teams, he's never had a test at a higher level yet most would jump at the chance of having him as coach so what makes him better than Gerrard. Who would have taken Gerrard before his failings at Villa Ange Postecoglou vs Gerrard - Gerrard has more playing experience, he has been coached by better coaches himself thus gaining knowledge along the way, he has coached in England and the PL why is he a no and Ange is a yes (to some) Carlos Carvalhal vs Gerrard - I'd have to say Gerrard, Carvalhal has a few terrible win percentages against his name, a very mixed bag of performances Not aimed at anyone, it's just the more coaches we have been linked to since Bielsa left the more I am noticing it really is a lot of luck that is involved and I just wondered how others come to the conclusions of a yes or no for certain coaches. I don't want Gerrard myself but I don't see him as being worse than many of the other names I am seeing us being linked with Brendan Rogers the stand out guy who I would like
I think it comes down to recruitment of the right players for the type of football that the coach wants to play and dealing with expectations of the fans. Heck has probably had time to get the players for his style of football without the crowd being on his back.
“Not aimed at anyone, it's just the more coaches we have been linked to since Bielsa left the more I am noticing it really is a lot of luck that is involved and I just wondered how others come to the conclusions of a yes or no for certain coaches.” can I just state that I haven’t hacked ristac’s account… though I am wondering who has
Don't want any of the first 3 in the betting Gerrard, Corberan,Parker. Gerrard is just a footballing name he knows feck all about coaching he's in the same bracket as Lampard both just fall on their feet because of who they were on the field. both should be in the lower leagues learning their trade not jumping straight into the Prem or biggish clubs. Parker is weak and won't have the balls to hold it out as the Leeds manager and let's be honest he won't attract anyone special. Corberan the job's to big for him as well. he may know the club and have his Leeds supporters but its a big no from me. To be honest It's going to be real tough to get a big name because of where we are now. We need someone who want's a challenge and the big one given time to build the club again even though I can't see it happening Graham Potter would be perfect for us but there's something in the back of my mind also thinking you know what it's the sort of job he needs again. yes he will still have pressure but not Premier League pressure like he did at Chelski or any other possible team in the Prem. 100% I don't want anymore foreign shyte. let's keep it close to home someone who has got the t-shirt of the English game but a proven coach not a prima donar ex pro who get job's off there footballing ability rather than coaching ability. Graham Potter get ya arse ower here son we are perfect jigsaw Pieces. We need you and you need get yourself up and running again and get your name back on the bilboards.
In answer to Milky’s sensible question based upon Ristacs views. I would say this. Gerrard, Corberan etc dont have the CV I believe this club requires. Yes they have done well in lower leagues but Gerrard won the league in a 2 club league which means most of us on here could have come 2nd. Rogers and Potter are much higher profile and can play a high press possession game and get results. A do I Iraola was actually the ideal candidate to take over from Bielsa but Orta left it too late, but Marsch wasn’t. Postacoglu did very well in the SPL for two seasons but has won titles on 3 continents and a much bigger CV than Gerrard and good luck to him at Spurs. This is Leeds and we need a big character with a great CV not a trainee Lampard/Gerrard.
Postacoglu will be interesting at spurs, his sides plays **** or bust football which makes for great entertainment… whether a better class of player helps him defensively we’ll see. There’ll likely be some high scoring games.
Did anyone notice how the pressure started to get to Jesse Marsche ? Came in all fresh and raring to go but by the end even he admitted it was a tough gig and he was feeling it. Point I'm making is you can't expect a normal type coach to handle things at Leeds because as Matthew Pennington once said "at Leeds you're only ever 2 bad results away from it being panic stations ". Unfortunately that's still true and so only a very special coach can handle all that and not be put through the emotional wringer. Sean Dyche anyone ? Oops too late for that one. Seriously though if we can't get Potter and we won't because he doesn't need to take the step down then we should go for Hasenhuttl.
…Marsch looked like a broken man when he was making half jokey comments about hating his job. I think we have a heavy shirt for players and a heavy suit, or hoodie in Jesse’s case, for managers. You need self belief and a thick skin at Leeds.
