Good Morning. It's Monday 5th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds no closer to appointing next Manager

Leeds kick off their 23/24 Championship season two months today, but are still no closer to knowing who their Manager will be. Currently, on the betting scene, there's nothing to pick between Steven Gerrard and Carlos Corberan, whilst Brendan Rodgers, Scott Parker and Regis Le Bris (FC Lorient's Manager) are not far behind.

The Summer transfer window opens for business next Wednesday and with departures expected to hit double digits, will need time to assess the squad, announce a retained list and build a new squad capable of automatic promotion, all without the assistance of a Director of Football.

    Leeds could sanction Adams loan

Leeds Utd are considering loaning out Tyler Adams next season, in an attempt to keep the USA Captain on their books. The 24yo has been a big hit at Elland Road, since his £20m arrival last Summer (from RB Leipzig), but relegation to the Championship threatens to end his Leeds career prematurely.

Before tearing his hamstring back in March, Adams had been one of Leeds best players, but dropping down a division would have devastating effects on both his career path and his price tag. He has four years remaining on his contract, so in effect, the Whites could sanction a season long loan move, in the hope Leeds are promoted back to the top flight this time next year.

Leeds spent over £56m on players wages last season

According to 'Capology.com', a leading Football Salaries and finances website, Leeds spent a whopping £56,420,000 on players wages last season. To put that into perspective, that's more than seven times the amount that Luton Town spent on promotion (£7.8m)

Some weeks ago, 'The Athletic' revealed that every player on the Leeds roster has a clause in his contract that will see salaries slashed by up to 60%. Even by bringing the wage bill down to £33.8m, it's still three times higher than most Championship outfits.

Last years wage bill included bonus for staying up so not going to be the same this time and on top of that many of the top earners will have gone so we will be fine in the wages department.

We have a head of recruitment still at ER so lots of stuff will be going on behind the scenes and we also still have a loans manager. We still have many of the scouts too so Orta may not be here and one of his top aides with him but his department is still working including the data guys. However shyt needs to happen regarding the head coach. Football is now finished everywhere in Europe so maybe the guy we want has become available? Or are we still waiting for the takeover before anything happens. I don’t think so I believe the club know who they want and hope it’s not the scouse

Morning all. Thought I saw predictions early last week everything would be tidied up re owner setup in a day or two. Settle for a week or two but suspect the Sampdoria nonsense isn't helping. Wonder what will the setup be with the memberships this season. Will we revert back to a guarantee match day ticket per membership. McKennie on 75k a week, incredible

And this is what is wrong with football, and the premier league specifically, as according to the capology website, the "whopping" £56 million that we spent on players salaries, was the fourth lowest in the EPL, only Bournemouth Brentford and Brighton spending less. Southampton spent £62 million, Leicester spent £74 million, Everton spent £79 million. Fulham spent the same as us, Forest spent £74 million.

Average annual salary for ourselves was £2.3 mil per player. Wolves, Southampton and Forest, as well as Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton, all had lower average salaries per player. That means our total salary was based on a squad of 24, wolves was based on a squad of 29,Southampton a squad size of 31 and Forest a squad size of 37. Brentford paid on average 1.4mil per player whilst both Bournemouth and Brighton paid 1.7mil per player

I’m guessing things have changed since the relegation. It’s not just a question of who we want but also who wants to take the job. I’d have employed Brendan Rogers by now but he may not fancy a 46 game slog in the championship.

I think that's referring to a Times article last Friday saying things were going to happen after the weekend, but I read the article, and its been taken out of context.

    Morning all

Either keep Adams and let him play or sell him, what message does loaning him out send to the rest, he is too good for this division, crazy idea

I'd prefer the ownership sorted out this week over the next manager to be honest as that might change budget and targets

I don't believe we have approached Corberan as we would need to ask permission, if we have interviewed anyone then they must surely be available so unemployed at present

Jack and Bamford, neither are worth those wages, McKennie already gone so two more to unload

I don't think our wage bill includes the 35m bonus for staying up. The figures wouldn't add up

Those figures are just base annual salary figures Eire, doesnt include any bonuses, not that we will be paying much out this season anyways.

Last season we spent £106m on players salaries included bonuses, according to the clubs audited accounts, and the season before that we spent £96m

Also the biggest problem with websites trying to report on salaries etc, is that they have to make guesses, its why I always prefer to go by audited accounts, as its the most accurate picture we are ever going to get. According to Capology, Brighton salaries for 20/21 were £52m, 21/22 were £49mil and this season £42m.

However audited accounts for 20/21 show they paid £107m and 21/22 paid £112m.

Whether we are paying over the odds in salaries to players who are not worth it, whether we are trying to operate on too small a squad, the one fact is that for our first two years back in the Premier League, we have had the 4th lowest salary budget for both seasons. Obviously audited accounts for this season are not yet available, and whilst its possible that our salary budget has been increased, I think most would say that given where we ended up, this has not been used wisely.

From the figures below, Scum and Newcastle both increased their salary payments to players by over £60m, Liverpool increased theirs by £50m. City reduced theirs, and won the league :emoticon-0138-think

well if you go by the salaries we paid last season according to Capology, we paid £37m. Audited accounts shows we paid £106m. That would suggest a bonus of £70m for staying up last year.

Doesn't seem right to me, hence I have to have doubts about the figures on the Capology website, but every time we seem to talk about the bonus players get, I always thought the figures of between £40m-50m being mentioned
