Big Sam £500k per point……… skibby would have been better and way cheaper than Gracia and SA and if not same result anyway?
well you kept telling us we all season we had a midtable squad.. though perhaps you were slippery enough to not be specific about which table
And another thing it’s not taken the board long to relegate us from the Prem to the Championship ffs. Almost like the mods were getting damp this last few weeks.
Now now Milky let's not rewrite history here shall we. 17th was the August prediction, revised to 15th in January after we signed Wober and McKennie. Think you went 14th from the start but please correct me if I'm mistaken
I’m well aware of your prediction jambo as you reminded us regularly on the occasions it suited your argument. However when you were in ‘blame the manager mode’ you referred to us as having a mid table squad that was held back by him. Your 17th prediction apparently factored in the terrible manager we had. Which of us is rewriting history jambo?
Excellent memory Milky. So you'll undoubtably be aware of my stated desire for Jesse to see the season out once we'd backed him in January ? Whether we'd have stayed up or not no one knows but that's why the prediction was revised upwards after we'd underachieved prior to the World Cup.
The more I think about it, the more I’m expecting Gerrard to be the next coach. Kinnear is speaking to candidates, that means they have to be out of a job. I’ve seen nothing to state we’ve been given permission to speak to Corberan. It could be Potter or Rogers but, I’d imagine they’ll hold out to take a PL casualty once the season starts. Now throw in a rumour that Gary Mac has been avoiding questions about who it might be (as he’ll be assisting SG)…..
Getting really worried about the Gerrard story, why is he on any list? He won the SPL well done but he and his No2 started ok at Villa but then his No2 went to QPR and Gerrard was pants by himself and ended up being crap and got sacked. Villa’s Spaniard had the same squad and got them into Europe. Why are we not looking at Rodgers who did well at Liverpool, broke records in the SPL before arriving at Liecester and doing an impressive job there. Way better option that Gerrard and why not Potter again a proven coach.if it’s going to be an English coach I want someone who has a good record not failure with a big club. We dont need potential here we need almost a guarantee, so Gerrard is a gamble and our gambles have been bad recently
If Gerrards appointed then we have wasted year 1 of parachute payments. He's a dreadful manager. His no2 who currently I'd in charge at Rangers was the brains in that partnership.
The headlines this morning are that his appointment would divide fans, I’m not sure about divide, I think it’s near on unanimous he’d be considered a poor choice. The only possible consolation would be if we could get a couple of decent loan signings with his contacts, and he’s a golden boy a bit like fat Frank, but now I’m really straw clutching
It was obvious to me for a long time where we’re heading at end of this season. The consolation being, a new regime who could possibly kick start a revival. A division we might be able to compete in and even flex our muscles with the parachute payments. I mean, how much worse could things get anyway than four managers a season, signing a load of crap from leagues where their clubs aren’t obliged to submit accounts so no record only ours of what any of them actually cost. Ah but it can. Enter Stevie G into the mix. It’s been an awful struggle to remain interested in the football for two seasons but if that clown arrives we will continue on our downward spiral. The really sad part is we know after the Javi fiasco, few managers will touch us for several reasons. Our off pitch behind the scenes antics aren’t helping. Radz is so up his own arse he probably believes promotion is a shoe in under his guidance and he can reclaim the millions relegation has cost him. Get OUT Radrizzani and bring the rest of the hangers on and leave us to concentrate on OUR football club
Honestly guys. Stop fretting about terrible manager v genius manager. You’re all over complicating things in my view and also largely over-estimating the importance. Does a good manager make a difference? Of course they do. But without seeing how they work behind the scenes, none of us knows what’s driving the success of a club… and I would seriously question the credentials of anyone on here (myself included) to judge managers from the outside. I think the Bielsa effect has everyone thinking that because it happened once, there are knights in shining armour who can flick a magic switch and make everything ok. It’s true that guys with unique approaches like bielsa can make a swift difference (and potentially get Sussed just as quickly) but reality is anyone we choose will have been in the game a long time. They all know the basics behind success, they all get the same coaching badges. They pretty much all do well given the right squad and plenty of time. And all struggle without the right squad and insufficient time. Much of the success is riding the crest of form and failure often a crisis of team confidence. Some of it pure luck, good and bad. Big Sam was right about recruitment being key. Time? None of them are given it… which is why the hiring and firing of managers takes place far too frequently in this game (down to impatient owners and impatient fans)… and all to generally no significant positive effect. In short, I don’t really care who the manager is. So will leave you all to it
Ralph Hasenhuttl anyone ? Major jobs so far are; Leipzig (2 years finishing 2nd & 6th). Southampton (4 years finishing 16th, 11th, 15th & then sacked after 12 points from 14 games). Saints were bottom when he joined in 2018 and seems they were better with him rather than without.
It's another yes from me if we could get him Did Potter really do much better at Brighton for example.
