Yes but was still wasted. He could have easily been in the championship and even Joey Barton said he was surprised he got him
I'll be honest, I'd rather they have a year starting in L1 than a year on the bench in the Champ. Please don't send any more to Scotland...
You've absolutely no way of proving that, based on the fact that you have no way of knowing which club he'd have gone to, their respective quality in those positions and they way they play. Today, Anderson would walk into any Championship side... Maybe not Leicester with current squad... but when he went to L1 - he wasn't where he is today. For any future ones, I'd stand by my statement - unless it's clear and obvious, if not contractual that they start x % of games, I'd rather they have a year a level below first whereby that is guaranteed.
In the same way you wouldn’t have known. However there were clubs interested in him from the championship
I'd personally loan out Anderson and find a good back up CM. Also If we can get Maddison for 40m that would be a bargain.
Maddison wants £250k a week. more than twice what our best player is currently on, who is more than twice the player Maddison is. This transfer looks highly, highly, unlikely.
Think the lad is now at an age where he needs to be around the players in the squad and in the league, unless he's going to somewhere like Luton, Sheffield or Burnley or another premiership squad where he will get a fair amount of playing time, he needs time in the league now and with the kind of quality of player we have. He'll learn more training alongside, Bruno, Isak, etc and playing less then under Pearson at Bristol for example with Matty James and Joe Williams around him - no slight on those lads but it's a fair point imo. He'll also get more mins this year with the extra fixtures and his performance against Chelsea was good, not outstanding, but got an assist showed he can contribute at this level and in this team.
I did say "currently on", but yeah he has allegedly been offered a new deal and I've seen £200k reported. Even still, We're not going to make Maddison a higher paid player than Bruno.
You can also use Pep with Foden as an example of just being around the squad and getting minutes here and there
Maddison is a tough one, good player but doesn't justify his wage demands and I'd steer clear - think he got increased wages off the back of winning the league, FA cup, Europeans adventure etc with Leicester - if he hadn't he is probably a 60-80k pw player...
I wouldn't make Maddison the highest paid player. If we offer Bruno 200k a week then I'd offer Maddison the same or he can **** off to Spurs. That being said he could end up being our best player if we do sign him. 20-25 goal involvements a season..
Jeeezus H... How is he on £100k+ a week at Leicester? This is why they are about to go bankrupt again. Jamie Vardy £160,000 Youri Tielemans £120,000 Ricardo Pereira £120,000 James Maddison £110,000 Jonny Evans £100,000 Harvey Barnes £100,000 James Justin £100,000 Kelechi Iheanacho £90,000 Boubakary Soumaré £83,000 Ayoze Pérez £83,000 Patson Daka £79,000 Ryan Bertrand £78,000 When was the last time you saw Ryan Bertrand play? 11 appearances in 2 seasons 4 in the league and he's on nearly £80k a week?
Over the last two seasons he's averaged around 20 goal involvements in around 30 games or so. 2/3 games he's either getting a goal or assist, and he was one of the most creative players in the league as well.
