Pointless friendlies again against three lower league clubs, and I mean no disrespect to them, but these are cup finals to them, ( maybe not so much Barnsley) which means potential injuries. Personally I see nothing to gain from playing friendlies at this level, no money in it and always the threat of an injury or two. I don't see why we cannot play one of the top Dutch clubs, home or way, and make some connection across there. But GY away? Humberside Police will love it.
They'd love a Dutch club and their mad fans as well, the way they go on these days. Leave them well alone
Be good for business in the city of Hull to play Ajax or Feyenoord at home. Surprised with the good access and trade links we have with Holland this isn't an annual fixture.
There's a difference between having to play them in European competition and inviting them over voluntarily
So the fans would wreck the city if we 'invited them voluntarily' but wouldn't if we played them in a competitive game? I dont see any differance at all. Other clubs manage to play foriegn opposition with no difficulty. I wouldn't mind a weekend in Amsterdam watching City.
No what I mean is why take the risk if you don't have to, by inviting them over for a friendly, when there are numerous other options available. There seems to be a significant number of Dutch "fans" intent on causing trouble with incidents every week, games regularly being suspended or called off altogether. That element would certainly see the attraction of a hop across on the ferry to cause mayhem in a new English city. Why open up the risk of injury and damage for a pointless friendly? Fine if we ever play them in Europe, deal with it then and enjoy the occasion
Can't we be a bit more ambitious? Or is this some sort of prelude to a Turkiye T.V opportunity? I'd rather sit at home watching paint dry...Definitely not overcome with 'Emulsion' over these fixtures
I assumed same. Wording of it suggests these are the first round of friendlies with more to be announced later. Tan and Acun might use their connections for a bigger game for the Corendon Cup, possibly even against Roma or a PL club.
We don’t even field any first-teamers against Ferriby these days. Haven’t for a while. In fact, the game is promoted as ‘North Ferriby vs Hull City u21s’.
